Thornton just had a fantastic game. This makes no sense. It's like people decided he can't be on the top line and no matter the results won't change their opinion. He's fine there so far.

Do agree on the loading up top PP though.

Of all the old guys, Thornton is the one who has actually looked competent. Only issue has been bad bounces for Matthews.

Not sure I buy it. We had "good rivalries" with Boston and I've been sick of playing them the past 2 regular seasons, especially when we had some clumps of games vs. them in the regular season.

At least the western teams are a little newer for us.

With the insane amount we will be seeing these teams I thin the chippines of the games will definitely go up.

Yeah seeing McDavid 9 times is both a blessing and a curse..

They've barely been playing that 4th line left winger both games (obviously for different reasons tonight). They should just go 7D. Call up Lehtonen to man PP2.

Nick Robertson played so few minutes this game because he got injured early on. And our bottom D pairing is already playing light minutes, because we have two quality pairings above them that Keefe is playing a lot. 7D doesn’t make much sense to me.

Good game aside from Campbell letting in 2 soft goals .

If we’re moving on from Andy we need to find a starter because Campbell isn’t one .

Kerfoot and Brodie had lowkey really solid games.

It's the little sacrifices that I look for in this team as it will be the difference between the failures of last couple of years and where they want to be. They can throw the box score away, winning is the only stat I care for.

Brodie going down to break up a 3 on 1, Simmons in front of the net on the PP screening the goalie for I believe the Matthews goal. Guys blocking shots, taking a hit (hopefully giving them back).

All of these sacrifices aren't always reflected in the boxscore but fans and coaches see them. Thornton scored, but he also won battles behind the net. In the grand scheme of a game, multiple times across a season, these are differences between a first or second seed, making or missing the playoffs, winning or losing playoff rounds.

Will you watch Minny and LA 9 times or what about Van and Ottawa?

So no hockey or hockey? wtf is the discussion here... jesus.

Just be grateful we are privileged enough to watch f***ing hockey on our tvs during a pandemic.

Why are we talking about variety of games.

I feel like people forget what country they live in and how lucky many of us are... and we're complaining about this shit... really.

You really need to think about what you're saying when you're complaining... and yeah its been a couple pages now. Get over it.

Stützle is going to be a solid player. Couple years and that Ottawa team will also have Brannstrom in the sqaud with some other talent; they are gonna be a good team. like waht DJ Smith is doing for them introducing structure to the team. of course to be seen but looks like they are gonna trend in the right direction soon i.e. Pain in the Leafs ass soon
Soon? They already are,

A much improved performance compared to Friday for sure and the scoreline does not reflect the match. Still a lot of room for improvement though, the game really should not have been close.

Hopefully Robertson is not hurt too bad. Spezza should start his own Face Off Academy. He and Tavares ruled the dot.

Pretty clinical win by the Leafs, great to see. Marner was excellent, Brodie was excellent, and Campbell made the saves he needed to. Frankly, both their goals were pretty outrageous bounces. Congrats to Stutzle for that first goal, but that stays out of our net 98/100 times. Murray played very well, otherwise this was a blowout.
