what risks? how many breakaways did we give them tonight? how many odd man chances did we give them tonight?

jeezzz.....

I bet you if campbell gets the most starts you this entire board will turn on him because he is not capable of handing the workload. He has a .865 SV% tonight.
17 saves on 19 shots equals .895 sv%. You know maths or no?

Yeah that play by Marner with about 0:50 left instead of dumping it deep at their blue line he tried some Jr move and lost the puck. I know they wanto play puck possession but sometimes better to move it.

Hell, turn back and keep possession. Wait for the 5on5 to hit then gain the line again.

I think Jumbo and Bogo will have some words about that as the season goes on and that will back up what Spezza and Muzzin probably were harping on last year.
Bogo is a dog chasing his own tail, I doubt he has a leg to stand on.

The calmness in net is critical. When the goalie starts to panic it can spread to the D and the rest of the team. Before you know it they are all panicking in their own end and get away from the game plan.

Some of that happened in game 2. Freddy has lost his confidence and the team has lost confidence in him.

This is the winner. Some goalies are just calm and quietly confident. When Andersen was on top of his game, bailing out the team many nights, this is how he appeared.

If for some reason he has lost that mojo, it's infectious.

Much better effort. Still lots of room to improve (both individually and as a group).

If a team like the Leafs match the OTT work ethic, they should win 80% of the time.

Murray was good for OTT, kept it close. We had some good looks.

Mikheyev doesn't look strong.. wonder if that is still wrist related? Nice to see Kerfoot buzzing around out there with an actual purpose and having some positive impact. Thought Joe, Simmons and Brodie all looked miles better than in the first two games.

Jets will be a tough test on Monday... man, this division sucks... every game will be a disaster if we are not dialed in. Guess that will pay dividends in the league semi finals.

Has he ever started a season on top of his game? You have to ride it out until November, it's no mystery at this point.

Problem is you have less runaway. Also, do we bank on his second half slump overlapping with his playoff struggles this time around?
I think (hope) Keefe is going to make a decision every game with nothing in stone, you win and you're in. It's not like the first half of last season where Freddie misses a game and all hell breaks loose.

@DuncanMacpherson I thought Thornton and Vesey were okay tonight.

Thornton seemed to find another gear and showed us something we hadn't seen from him yet: a little jump. It looks like he's definitely trying here.

I liked Vesey in the first two games as well. I am surprised by that. I hadn't expected much.

It looks like Bogosian and Btodie are settling in now, too.

Ya instead of commenting on the whole 60 minutes in which he looked good, why not complain about the one or two plays he didn’t. Learn to appreciate when he has a good game, you won’t jinx him by complimenting him

His offensive creativity is fun to watch, reminds me of Gilmour, but with even sharper vision on the ice. This fact won't overshadow a soft, unforced error that could unfortunately end their season if done at the wrong time.

I haven't been critical of him often, when I have been, it's generally for being too soft or lackadaisical with the puck.

He executes the difficult, unpredictable play well but sometimes becomes lazy with the mundane. It doesn't need to be this way.

Huh...Looks like the sky isn't falling after all

TO played the 30th best team in the NHL last year, twice, split the games and outscored them by 1 goal. TO is mostly either in their primes or beyond, Ottawa's quality is mostly very young and capable of immense improvement rapidly.

This is a sad start to the season with the only redeeming possibility is that TO should be better but the question is can they.

Don’t bring back the memories:confused::ha:

It was as lopsided as you could want in a game tonight. The Sens barely spent any time in the Leafs zone for the entire game.

Winning 2 of the first 3 games is pretty nice. Not as nice as a clean sweep I suppose, but I'm fine with it.

it’s ok.

we took 4 of 6 points while giving away 3.

this is a different kind of season in that it’s a mini tournament.

They are 2-1 after 3 games. Like yesterday, it is far too early to make up our minds on the team.

Yea, its gonna be a bit strange to start the season.

The Devils ending up getting 3 out of 4 points from the Bruins, the Rangers absolutely destroying the Isles and the Wings taking out Carolina all tonight so far.

Gotta give the season a couple of weeks before all the teams get up to speed and the stronger teams start asserting themselves. I think the Leafs are certainly one of the top teams so I hope they are able to bank more than a few points as they all shake the rust off. Job done tonight.
