Yeah, seems last year we’d have outright blown a few leads under Keefe. It also doesn’t hurt that our defence is a sizeable upgrade from last year and we have 2 goalies who are mentally fit, at least as far as goalies go.
Never felt like they wouldn’t win this game. Pretty much in control all night minus a few bad bounces.

Credit to Berube — sometimes ya gotta read the room (or in this case, the rink). He could have been a stubborn old coot and just left the lines be, but like a smart coach, he read the comments on the GDT and knew it was in his best interest to put M&M back together at a time when everything seemed stalled. Also, sending Holmberg down a line and promoting Minten was based.

Are the players not running the room anymore? That was the talking point last year.

Keefe was the last of the Dubas stink that they kept around far longer than they needed to.

Can appreciate Tre and Berube atleast knowing what a real hockey team should look like.
Beyond frustrating we wasted all those years with a guy who had no idea what a real hockey team should look like.

At least now, all of the moves make sense. The logic is there.

TBH, I was never one that subscribed to that talking point. There are always conspiracy theories and projections that pop up when things go south around Leafland. Myself, I need concrete proof before I start believing stuff that happens in an environment that I’ve yet to step foot in.

Watching a hockey team with reliable goaltending every game:

Tanev, OEL, Lorentz, Reaves and Myers were the only Tre additions that suited up tonight.

While Keefes team is still ahead of Toronto in the standings.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with where the teams at currently and wouldn’t trade it back. But my god you Dubas detractors are the most hyperbolic bunch.

I liked the Leafs level of physicality in this game. Outhit Nashville 32 to 15 and we had Mitch mixing it up. Knies took two Predators out of the play with a hit on Matthews' second goal and Knies also caught Skjei with two big consecutive hits. And like I was hoping we got some shithousery from the fourth line, with a Dewar revenge hit and Grebenkin cross-checking a Predator out of our crease. Both times Nashville acted like they wanted more smoke but Reaves was out there so they settled down.

I’m just joking . Wanted to beat all the other so called leaf fans who crucify marner at every turn

The most important player on the team

If they don’t sign him and he walks they deserve all the ineptitude that happens
Lol. Dude. Relax. Marner does this every November and December.

Talk to me when or if he does this in April.

Great game to watch live. Took my 6y old daughter for her first game and she had a blast.

Wonderful game by Marner, he should have been 1st star. Nice to see Matthews pot a couple, and Woll was solid again. The team played well defensively. Nice to see them stick with it and be patient.

Still need depth scoring.

This is exactly why you put Matthews and Marner together. Magic.
Our play was kind of concerning for large stretches of this game, but wins are wins. Good job by Woll to settle down after the bad break.
Crazy that we didn't get an empty net goal. First the ref blocking Marner's shot, and then Tavares missing it by a second. Glad it didn't screw us.
Reaves comes back and the 4th line gets caved in. 9.39 xGF%. Myers 30.09 xGF%. Worst among our defenseman. Holmberg dropped out of the top six in the 3rd.
Seems like Berube should have listened to me.

Marner was fine without him though. Honestly a bit disappointed we needed to do this to light a fire under Matthews. Guys on Leafs post game thought the same. I like having them separate, at least for stretches.
I think it’s better they stay seperate IMO

They have chemistry on the dime. Put them together mid game and it’s there, I don’t mind needing to put them together in a pinch but I think both turn each other into 1 dimensional offensive players too often. Matthews becomes a pure goal scorer and Marner a playmaker. Works wonders in the regular season, but gets stopped in the playoffs.

I like the look of the lines, especially with players coming back we could put domi with nylander and Matthews then knies with Tavares and Marner. That moves the big 29 down to 3rd line at least.
