No it's these implications that I don't agree with. This notion that "if the goaltending wasn't so "insanely good" Matthews would have scored 6 goals notion.

Also the notion that without these obscure statistics we would have no idea that Matthews had a good game.

Again I feel like I am always discussing hockey with NHL Agents, and not fans.

I think Lehtonen needs time to accustom to the smaller ice surface. However, he looked poised with the puck. He reminds me a little of Kaberle. Give him a little time, he’s going to be good for us.

I thought all the dmen played well except for Reilly. He didn’t play bad, he’s just not good enough defensively to be considered a #1.

I bet not one person here would have predicted 4 games into the season Matthews would have scored the least goals of the big 4, crazy! Great game though today by the leafs and 2 straight consistent efforts, let’s keep it up boyz!

I think he realized that if he didn't play well, he may not be playing next game. Leafs won't be dressing 7 D every game.

They're not obscure. Even the Dinos at TSN and Sportsnet occasionally reference them.

Anyway, what exactly is your point? The puck followed Matthews around like a magnet but he had a bad game because he didn't score?

It's ridiculous the way the refs are reffing the games in favour of some teams and bias against others...Oilers had 7 powerplays against the Habs tonight, but went 0 for 7 and lost...meanwhile the Leafs are trending to be at near the bottom of the league again for drawing penalties...are the refs going to give the Oilers 6 or 7 PPs a game against the Leafs?

Holl looked solid. Not pretty game by Brodie but much better.

Boy, Mikheyev is fast.

Leafs need to re-sign Hyman.

Not much to complain about. That was like 50 minutes of domination - funny seeing some Jets fans thinking it was close because of the final score. Helle was the difference between 3-1 and 7-1. Jets getting 4 PPs compared to 1 is really funny, what a joke. I hate to bash on Simmonds but man he shouldn't be playing every game at all, Anderson would look good.

Holl isn't as bad as people say, but this Holl is very much a byproduct of playing with Muzzin.

Ideally Liljegren slides into that spot if Holl is taken by Seattle. I think a year or two with Muzzin would be extremely helpful for his transition to the league.

I think he benefits from playing with Muzzin as anyone would, but I think he's a pretty good 4 or 5 right now.
 
Early days yet and admittedly a bit gunshy so won't get on the hype train yet. But so far there is a lot to like about this team and the way they're playing. Defence seems to have improved markedly.

If they can play like today as a team for the majority of the season they will make some serious noise.

And I know this is against popular opinion likely, but the game they lost to the sens, they completely dominated the first half of that game. Aside from the latter half of that game they essentially have had 6-7 dominant periods in their last 3 games. Like completely controlled the game in those periods. Which was never the case last year. Even when they strung wins together last year, it was never pretty
