Team defence has looked good so far. Players are playing tighter and better then years past. Players really buying into the coach.

The team feels and actually plays better then the other team which they should. Leafs are playing like they should be 1st in the division.

I know we won and all but Rielly has been very underwhelming so far this season. I'm starting to wonder that maybe finding him a partner isn't the issue but that he might be. He has all the tools but low iq and is a tire fire defensively
Still early days. I think he'll get better as the games go on. Everyone has been inconsistent so far. Except for Tavares. He's been a beast.

Some people keep dumping on Holl and want him off the team and I don't get it. Dude has looked pretty solid in all the games this season and him and Muzzin look good as a pairing. He may not ever be a star player, but as long as he can keeping playing good, reliable defense and even improve abit, that would be good enough for me.

Sometimes people make a declaration and then they are not big enough as a person to admit they were wrong and continue to trumpet out the same old crap whether it's accurate or not.

Unpopular opinion but I thought Bogosian looked very solid and engaged tonight.

Muzzin definitely knows that's a game to forget, in terms of individual play

Only unpopular with some who may not appreciate anything other than flashy, offense-first Karlson types. I said from the day that got him that this was a perfect addition.

Having this back end put together considering Dubas had little cap room is a minor miracle. I thought the moving of a big contract would be necessary, though I wanted A.P if that occurred. Brodie and Bogo are strong pickups.

Physical, "grind it out", "won't back down", "clear the front" D men are especially important for this team that has such talent up front. Give me Muzzin and Bogosian types all day.

I bet you the goalies appreciate them too.

Manner and Tavares are leading the league in points and in goals.

6 points and the 3 goals in 4 games.

Great bounce back by Freddy tonight. I’ve been critical of him and still don’t think he’s proven capable of backstopping a cup champion, but he shows flashes. As much as he’s pissed me off the last year, there’s a reason I don’t bet overs on Leafs games - I cheer for him every night.

Outside of the obvious, thought Bogosian looked great tonight.

On to the Oilers!

I feel like Thornton has been great on the 1st line so far. Once those 3 learn where each other are going to be on the ice, they are going to be a treat to watch. Thornton is one of the reasons they dominate possession so much. His ability to regain the puck during scrambly plays is still pretty terrific.

Hyman is my favourite player, but he's making that 3rd line a forceful lunchpail line we haven't seen in years. Giving him 5 minutes a night with Matthews is perfect. Pushing Thornton down to the 3rd line will completely change its dynamic and he'll really have nobody to set up for scoring chances.

i think and hope as season goes on, hyman and robertson will make their ways onto lines 1 and 2...gotta always maximize the offensive potential of your team as much as possible if you ask me...we only score 2 a game when it matters

our bottom 6 will change many times along the way but our top 6 of matthews, marner, tavares, nylander, hyman, and robertson gonna decide if we win any cups...get them all playing together as soon as much as possible

What is this?
This is showing the expected goal share the Leafs had over the Jets when Matthews was on the ice in 2nd period or upto the end of 2nd I believe. Just downright dominant. If an average goalie was in net, this game over before the 3rd.

The time stamp reads about 8:45pm. So that would make it two periods of play up until that point.

I don't agree, and I don't agree with posting this kind of information.

Today was his best game, but that is not saying much because he was downright awful the other three games.

He at least looked like he deserved to be in the defensive rotation today.
