I got everything I said I wanted in the pre game thread.

I said I wanted a big goal from Minten, not only did that, it was the game winner.

I said the PP needed to come through and it did.

I said Woll was going to need to have the game of his life because I didn't think the team was going to play very well.

He didn't need to give them a career performance like I thought he was going to need to but he was as good as it gets 31 saves on 31 shots.

Beautiful.

What won't be discussed but is extremely important is TB has 3 games in hand, they are now 5 points back.

That means they need to win all 3 to pass us.

Tonight was BIG.

I hope the boys enjoy 1st place because they EARNED it tonight.

Hopefully Knies is OK.

Yep. That being said I’m not ready to move him just for the sake of it. If he gets off the snide that bit of confidence could be a good step in development

But I’m not opposed to using him as a trade chip for an upgrade elsewhere

Unfortunately Holmberg has played his way off the team first IMO.

Holmberg’s mid. Disappointing progression and shows little flash and personality. Definitely underachieving based on the glimpses we’ve seen. But he didn’t call his shot so there’s no urgency to move on.

Although to be honest when you see some real kids like Minten and Grebs come up and show some jam and personality and ability, you don’t really worry about guys who aren’t competing hard enough for their jobs.

Mentioned Tavares skating in the GDT.

Patches had mentioned early in the season that he worked on his skating with the same coach as Tavares. He said the big difference now versus years ago is that they train players to skate with short quick strides, rather than long powerful ones like they used to. He said Nylander is a perfect example of how they train to skate now. I've noticed Tavares seems to be skating with the short strides and he does look faster.

JT seems more relaxed without the C too.. he’s playing fantastic

I was opposed to re-signing him and I mean he certainly won’t always be like this but the centre market is thin and the Leafs will have a need down the middle.
