The kids proved they deserve to play tonight fully healthy
Knies Matthews Marner
McMann JT Nylander
Greb Minten Domi
Steeves/Dewar/Lorentez/Reaves/Whoever

Trade Kampf Robertson Holmberg and Jarnkrok all 4 lines have a big guy to bang and crash, a solid 2 way forward and someone who can put the puck in the net

How about our goaltending now?… these 2 gems are as good as we’ve had in many years… we’re winning the division.

The refs were pure scumbags in how they did Knies tonight… and they know it.
Not sure how that was not a major penalty. Not much different than the Reaves hit.

Imagine the refs looking at the Knies hit on replay as the crowd waits and is watching on the big screen… comes back and has the nerve to announce… nope, don’t see anything there… here’s a penalty for y’all though.

Considering the battles he could be fighting across his nations border, I presume he appreciates his life, pursuing a career in the NHL.
Not a single hockey player was enlisted to fight. Only prisoners and drunkards from depressive Russian rust belts die at Ukrainian fields for huge money bonuses. So don’t spoil Grebs great start with political bullsh.t, the kid has such a positive vibe. Knies and Greb in top 6 might be a bright future for the Leafs!

Only negative was Robertson again. Kid can demand a trade and be upset about his role but the kid does himself no favors. That turnover in the third period up 2-0 in your own zone was horrifying. I’m sorry but it’s only been 1 game but I’d rather Minten or Grebs instead

So guys, this looks like a team that’s playing the way you have to to win games in the playoffs…fast, gritty hockey mixed in with skill. What’s changed?

Was it the defence? The goaltending? The coaching? The manager? The wrong mix of players? The philosophy? All of the above?

All I know is that I like the fast, gritty, hard hitting, North-south hockey we’re seeing.

You forgot Patches.

I agree otherwise.

Thought the double-minor was going to Whitecloud until I see we're on the pk, it's like they're trolling us and back in their office having a laugh while a guy's going through another concussion.

Steeves has the hustle for the 4th line.

And Holmberg ain't getting traded or waivered.

Played 2C
played 17:40
Played PK
Was out on a line with Tavares and Marner in the D-zone with 2 minutes left in a game
EN goal

Face it, he's gonna be Berube's Justin Holl

I also enjoy, how every once in a while, he unleashes the dirtbag inside but makes it look innocuous

I wonder if Domi gets shifted to wing when he gets back

It was either 5 and a game or no penalty. It was never going to be a double minor.

9-3 record on home ice.

This was one of the things I felt they really needed to do -- make their home building a tough place to play. Other than a couple of dud nights -- St. Louis and Ottawa, they've been really good at home. I know they haven't been great on the road so far, but I'd be far less concerned about that.

Can't remember the last time Tanev made a mistake. He just makes the correct play every time.

He's been terrific. OEL doesn't make a lot of mistakes either and is great at getting back to break up plays. I'll take a 30 something year old dman who still has wheels any day of the week.
