You know what made him excellent tonight? He didn't try to freewheel or create any offense. Just stayed in his little defensive role and did what was required. Played within his limitations.

Brodie or Gio are good enough to carry Holl much like Muzzin did in the past. As long as he stays on the 3rd pair he will be approriatley slotted, Lilly back is huge.

Though Timmy looked great overall, and the entire D impressed as a whole. I still hate Holl with the puck, but cannot deny he makes plays on the defensive side.

Nice to see Matthews score 2, but 2nd line was our best all night. JT deserved to be on the scoresheet.

Exactly put him with gio on the third pair and see what Sandin and lily do together and let the top pair handle the work load

I had seen that but the NHL is a different beast but I hope he could do something.

Sammy had been so good. Just sucks. Hopefully both are back real soon.

The goalie luck leafs have had in the last 10 years is brutal.

Yeah but at 6'7" he covers a lot of net, and he looked more athletic in camp this year then at anytime last year. I think backing up Kallgren a couple of games, if it comes to that, will be good for him. He'll get to face NHL shooters in practice which should sharpen up his glove and move him another step in his progression to the NHL.

Leafs have had some of the worst luck possible with their goaltenders in recent years. It's getting pretty insane. If Samsonov is out for awhile, this is going to get spicy and not in a good way.

Leafs played a heck of a game. Probably deserved more than 2 goals.
