With Matthews and Marner looking like they've woken up and playing as they should....

The second line is playing their best as a unit so far.

Good sign of things to come

The scary part isnt' that the leafs will not win

top 4 accounts for 19 goals (Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nyalnder)
Last 10 accounts for 12 goals (Kampf with 3)

If top guns are not producing, there are no production

Went 7 games, refs had to drag the Bolts over the finish line.

yes ofcourse.... Just like the Habs
My bad

Let’s pick a random team…. Tampa

Top 4 goal scorers 23 (58%) -> Leafs (61%)
Next 10 goal scorers 17 (42%) -> Leafs (39%)

What a strange trend that a teams 4 best players will have the majority of their goals

Holl survived I don’t kno about being one of the best dman tonight at all he was giving away the pucc plays we’re dying on his sticc but he did what he does best blocced shots and pkd good let’s not get carried away
Whyy yyes yy'oure right whatever or whenever was I thinking, not much I guess. Holl is alwayys doing that stuff and he'll do it again on Sunday I'm sure. Talking about being carried awayy. I supplicate and ask for yyou're forgiveness I should have never watched the game or listened to some folks on here who seem to know their hockeyy, because now maybe it seems likelyy theyy reallyy don't.

Cheers, order yourself a beer and put it on my tab.

This won’t be a suspension because Sportsnet didn’t immediately start calling for one as soon as it happened, both on the broadcast and in the studio.

Not only that, but Craig Simpson took it upon himself to make a quick cut of the crosscheck from multiple angles and send it directly to DPOS, just to make sure that Parros didn't miss it...

To be fair at least they didn't give the B's a 5 on 3 when Pasta was marginally hooked ... That could have been the difference.
Right, yes!! That actually was a penalty I think... more game management. If they didn't make up the earlier ones, they could have called that one. I guess the B's can't win'em all.

It's definitely a team that will live or die by it's best players. Fortunately they're for the most part fairly consistent as a core group (this early season hiccups aside)

Our core players are easier to shut down compare to other core players. That's what worries me
Let's be honest, none of our core players have a history of stepping up when it matters

Our bottom 6 seems very flat. Once in a while they look like they'll have a great game but really doens't sustain much.

LMAO so according to HF Bruins we only won cause we paid off the refs……
2 butter soft penalties against us late in the 3rd. If we are paying refs I want a better return on our investment
And if we had lost, there would have been a few posters here blaming the refs.

The hardest thing I had to try to teach the kids when I coached was to accept that it was a very rare occurrence when anyone but the players determined the outcome.

As silly as it might sound maybe because of all the new faces, the uncertainty of the starting goalies health, compounded by the lack of depth in net. Led them to having some trouble finding confidence and not sure of what their identity is supposed to be. Maybe tonight's good showing changes that doubt and gives them some much needed belief in themselves and each other and starts the turn around they need.

Could you just imagine how badly the Leafs would have beaten Boston tonight if the players weren't trying to get the coach fired?

*rolls eyes*

Please be ok Sammy.

Great defensive poise late in the third. The refs had to game manage to ensure the Bruins got their PP's.... That gave Boston a lot of momentum down the stretch.

Matthews heating up?
It's weird how the team that's behind in the score tends to work harder, has the puck more, and dominates play; and just coincidentally the refs gift them a PP.

Wow just a phenomenal effort, Matthews looks like his normal self. Completely dominated the game, I think the back injury is a thing of the past now. Really happy with that effort, hopefully we can build on it tomorrow or technically tongith.

What an effort by the boys. I love that they didn't get phased by Boston's pathetic attempt to try to goon it up near the end of the 2nd.

Seems the focus is back in the room.

Sorry I missed the game, glad to read about the result!

From the comments here, it reads that Liljegren had a solid game. He's going to be a difference maker on the backend this year if he can take that next step from where he finished last year.

I don't think that's so unusual.

Tampa: top 4 - 23 goals, bottom 9 - 12 goals.

Colorado: top 4 - 21 goals, bottom 12 - 12 goals.

Two best offensive plays were Bunting kicking the puck to Matthews for his first goal and Nylander's rush and pass for his second.

Liljegren and Gio were solid. Malgin and Tavares we're good. Willy and Austin were our best players.

Hope Samsonov is ok. Nasty deke by Marchand, but it looked like Samsonov may have caught a rut.

I really like the play Nylander drew up for the PP.

Rather than letting Rielly and marner screw around for 15 seconds skating up to center ice and then passing back to the goal line for another rush to center ice, and pass back to the red line and then try and enter the zone, he just took the puck and skated it through the zone for a dump in goal for Matthews.
