That's all we need is for Matty and Mitch to start clicking and we'll win games. Simple as that. Also, having Simmonds out there does a whole lot for us whether he plays great or not. The opposition knows that he's in the lineup and that alone changes the tone of the game to our advantage. And I hope that our goalie issues are not that serious.

LMAO so according to HF Bruins we only won cause we paid off the refs……
2 butter soft penalties against us late in the 3rd. If we are paying refs I want a better return on our investment
Neither of those were even penalties imo. Marchand sold the interference, I mean, the guy is a bulldog, so unless you are telling me Tavares is Thor, that was a dive. Should be a fine. Game management call.

The penalty on Sandin was a joke, Debrusk (I think it was) literally put himself in that position all on his own. Game management call.

And to only give Carlo a 2 minute on a crosscheck to the face? Sure looked like a classic Bruins-style officiated game to me, they just didn't score on the gifted PPs. So credit to the boys in blue for fighting off the B's and the Refs.

Would love to see a side by side of the plays. Typical double standard by the league/refs.
Not surprising.

Some Leaf fans think whining about this is bullshit but it isn't.

The league is f***ed in the head.

Canadian teams make the money and help the league immensely but... we'll still f*** them because Gary wants to grow the game in stupid shitty ass markets.

Some things have worked but he's out to lunch on a bunch of teams.

Look at the jerseys and boards on tv this year to make up for teams like Arizona
... f***ing brutal

To be fair at least they didn't give the B's a 5 on 3 when Pasta was marginally hooked ... That could have been the difference.

Solid game for the team, not one passenger out there tonight. It could've been a disaster with Kallgren being forced into the game ice cold against the leagues best team atm, but he was sharp and the team kept Boston chances to a minimum.

Liljegren looked a little rough to start but he smoothed out the rough edges really quickly and may have been the best Dman on the ice tonight. He had stiff competition from both Gio and Holl.

Holl who's been having some real difficulties over the last week, responsed with a complete game at both ends. There was a lit of pressure on him to get it done.

Sandin, Brodie and Reilly all had their normal type games a lot of puckhandling so a few mistakes but very good recoveries. Sandin is so strong and he was using it tonight. I liked the whole unit tonight, and I'd like to see it again v the Canes.

The play from the top 6 was exactly what they should do every night. Control the play and generate chances and limit the opposition opportunities by outskating them and leaning hard on them.

The real bright spot though was the bottom 6. All 6 of them came to the party, all 6 did the hard work things that they need to do in order to win games. They were a hard on the puck, and they were harder on the opponent and they all took their defensive responsibilities dead seriously.

I know how hard it is to do, but if they can muster this kind of effort up 8 out of ten nights and get decent goaltending, then they should be alright.

Holl survived I don’t kno about being one of the best dman tonight at all he was giving away the pucc plays we’re dying on his sticc but he did what he does best blocced shots and pkd good let’s not get carried away

They did an impressive job of clogging up the shooting lanes and keeping the Bruins' stars to the perimeter. It shows is the final shot totals.

Pepperidge Farms remembers when a certain Nazem Kadri was given 5 and a game plus a suspension for the exact same kind of contact that was a 2 minute minor for the Bruin defenseman tonight.

It would have been a bit of a soft call without someone in the box already. You really should need more than that to put a team down 2 men. I think with nobody in the box, I could live with that called a hook to maybe even out the calls. I'm sure the Boston faithful have a different opinion.

There are thumbs on the scale in this league for certain connected franchises.

And the league has gone full shameless merchandizing. The advertising on the boards is distracting and ugly. And the live audience has to look at lavender print advertising to accommodate this awful virtual advertising system.

Impressive game. We knew leafs were capable of that. What we don’t know is if they can sustain that.

They'll likely have to play much the same if they want a favorable result tomorrow in Carolina. I think they'll be fine if they pay attention to the small details.

Can I also say that when we had that thread about Tavares working on his skating this offseason I sort of ignored it, thinking it was just a nothingberry offseason article.

But hot friggin dang, JT can MOVE now!

If only we hired Barry Trotz so we could play good defence.

Gonna be a quiet night in the post game thread

Well considering it's only one game and we have seen this movie before
Maybe you should hold your thought until we win a round

Beating a good team isn't unsual for the leafs, beating them in a playoff series is
Leafs also beat Tampa 2-1 last november. How did that work out at the end?

21 hour turnaround between start times

I'd like to have a Saturday off, if we have to play the Canes at 5pm on Sunday :(

finished 5pts ahead of them with home advantage?

I think the lavender was a one time thing for some type of Hockey Fights Cancer. But yeah, the constant changing is a distraction when watching.

With Matthews and Marner looking like they've woken up and playing as they should....

The second line is playing their best as a unit so far.

Good sign of things to come

So weird how one year they can be so cold and the next they are the teams best
