I think Dubas had a genius plan this offseason. Surround the spoiled selfish overpaid core with grizzled veterans that simply won't tolerate their narcissism. And it appeared to be working. And, like you, I thought the reined in core could be something special.

But I fear things have already come back to normal, and will stay this way. Hope I'm wrong.

Yep, because their first bad week throughout Keefe’s entire tenure as coach (A week which they got .858 SV% goaltending from Andersen and Hutchinson) completely erases their longer stretches of success before it and the core is selfish and overpaid and rotten again. Nevermind the fact Matthews is injured, and Marner, Tavares, and Nylander are still producing. Got it.

They just have zero swagger right now. Hockey isn't looking too fun lately after a few games didn't go their way...and then they started losing the good habits from earlier in the year

They were basically shut out 5v5 by the 8th place team in last year's playins. The offense disappearing after 30 games isn't all that surprising.

Yeah the Leafs don’t have any ability to break down a collapsing defense. They don’t even space out properly to open up seams. Just funnel everything to the slot and negate your own skill advantage.

Keefe better figure out a strategy to beat it. We watched an average CBJ team and this year's bottom teams use it successfully over and over again
