To be fair to Thornton the whole team is cooked. Play too well, and they fall apart. Ply too often and they get tired. Rest them too much and they don’t remember how to play.

That combined with the leafs not wanting to shoot from outside the crease has made it pretty easy for Forsberg so far

Yeah the Leafs don’t have any ability to break down a collapsing defense. They don’t even space out properly to open up seams. Just funnel everything to the slot and negate your own skill advantage.

They aren't skating nearly as hard. So either this team has not learned their lesson, or, as I have feared, they have 1 gear and can't elevate their games when other teams do.
