Why was he benched? Is there an injury? Did the benching ( if it was a benching) lead to a goal?
He had a bad game. Can't deny it. Where's the consistency though? It's not a good look.

Plus he's a game breaker you don't bench these guys. 55 minutes of garbage and 5 minutes of lighting the lamp is fully possible. Yes we still won but this is a long term comment.

If Keefe has a problem with Nylander he has to go my friends. Sorry. That benching reeks of personal bias.

Babcock was hard on Nylander, would send him to the 3rd or 4th line, but benching him when the game is on the line?

That is not good for Keefe's job security.

Not dressing Sandin, and letting Dermott and Holl play, and have them be on the ice for the two goals that tied the game when the game was in the bag with under 10 minutes, that is why these ideas they will get fired and they not up to the job will not go away.

You have absolutely no idea why he was benched yet, it could have been since he is not the greatest defensively they were worried about getting at least one point since they could basically do nothing right tonight. I bet he would have played OT if they got there.

Yeah I would expect Marner and Nylander to be held to the same standard. Some players need the carrot others the whip. I imagine they feel Nylander responds best to the whip.

Anyway we don’t even know if he was benched or the details behind it. I don’t see the big deal.
I think his contract makes him submissive to the coach/team needs but the 11M gang are clearly above Keefe so he is scared to piss them off.

Has it been determined that it was a benching rather than an injury?

That is an absolutely ridiculous reason to bench Nylander in a 4-4 game with 5 minutes left. What a terrible take.

Marner had a few good games and gone again.

I thought Sabres had the core 4 tendencies down to the book and defended them pretty well. These are the games where the core4 have to learn to make in game adjustments and change their own game on teh fly to mess up defensive plans of opposition

About what I expected. Actually predicted 5-4 in the prediction thread. Loony 2nd half of B2B in Buffalo, 3rd game in 4 nights, just asking for a weird game under the circumstances. Glad we won.

Willy was tired from carrying the team the last 2 games.
You actually believe what you just said or too many??? Willy tired??
This is the NHL. You win games b2b. You can go 50 games in a row without a loss.
If your team has huts they find a way. Tonite the Leafs find a way. This was a pro win. Line 3 and 4 mattered

Didn't say I agree with it, but it is potentially the reason. Run players you trust defensively and won't cheat to score.

Not sure if you're new to hockey, but this isn't a new concept if it is close teams shorten the bench.

I'm positive he wasn't benched to preserve a point, but I expect he would have played in OT

He did also take an awkward bump right before going off on his last shift. Didn't look like anything or enough to cause an injury, so I expect it's unrelated and he was benched for playing stupid, lazy hockey. I doubt Keefe liked the lazy hook with ~5 minutes left in a tie game

Yeah except Nylander hasn't been benched in a close game all season so your viewpoint isn't correct.

damn bruh you're one of the nicest guys to debate with. If you're going greasy rat mode about this I feel justified.

Anyway I'm still hype about the win so I'll shutup about Nylander now. Onto the next one.
