Expected a barn burner.
Got a barn burner.
Wild game. Happy for Woll. Made a big save on Skinner after the Sabres tied it to keep it squared up.
Take the two points in regulation and run like hell.
I like your schtickBuck Fuffalo.
Sink or swim moment for him today. Get him exposed to the "Leafs way" and see how he handles it. He got the win that's all you can ask.
Tough break for the #baghead culture that has seeped into our boards. Go Leafs!
Benched… he deserved it but it leaves me with some questions:
Where was this benching for Marner in the first 10 games of the season?
where was this benching for Matthews in his first 10 games, no actually his entire career?
They have had worse this season and not been benched
even the press conference, keefe just said nylander had a higher level he could get to, didn’t get much credit for being the best forward on this team
it looks kinda like nylander is the engvall of our big 4 in keefes eyes
I watched Keefe's post-game interview last night and when the reporters seemed to glow about Nylander, Keefe didn't quite sing their praises. Doesn't surprise me he chose Nylander to pick on in this one. Matthews and Marner have had much worse games this season and weren't benched.
Players are held to different standards, expectations vary.Engvall gets all his shifts like he carried the team for the first 15 games. Nylander benched. Embarrassing. If he's hurt ignore this.
maybe because Nylander is the only one he can do that to if he tries that with Matthews or Marner they would mutinyI watched Keefe's post-game interview last night and when the reporters seemed to glow about Nylander, Keefe didn't quite sing their praises. It's......srilliant in its bimplicity.I like your schtick
To send a message…if you continue to roll Marner/Matthews like normal it shows that their production and offensive output is acceptable. Most benching are because you wanna send a message. It’s more so to keep players accountable. Marner at the start of the year wasn’t great, offensively invisible or snake bitten and definitely not great defensively either however he was rolled continuously 19-21 minutes. Why play someone who is contributing nothing and is not really considered a great defensive player? At least if Marner is not putting up points he is generally a good defensive player.
If it wasn't a tie game or a one-goal game I'm sure it would have been different.
