Can he keep up with Brodie, Gio, McCabe , Liljegren and Timmins?

On the bright side, they didn’t try to get Karlsson and completely kill their chances. But why not sign players on one yr deals that can be moved at TDL, or do think they can?

Bad deal, there is no way around this.

Lucky it is only ONE year but watch he plays great and extend him for more money
Or move him at the TDL?

Dom Luszczyszyn, in case you weren't keeping track of the Dubas era very carefully, you'll notice we had annual UFA misfires in Petr Mrazek, Nick Ritchie, Jimmy Vesey and an own goal addition in Matt Murray on the same day we got rid of Mrazek. Other shitty additions like Cody Ceci, Tyson Barrie every summer.

Klingberg could very well not work out, but to play the Dubas vs Treliving game as if we're experiencing some massive fall off is gutless.

Honestly, I don't have alot of of confidence in Treliving, and I've also said since Dubas was let go that I would have preferred they move on from Shanahan as well.

That said, the Dubas shill's are so nauseating. Yes Dom, the 900k raise to Kampf, a 1.3M fourth liner, and a 1 year contract is what's going to ruin the Leafs. Not the dozen bad decisions Dubas made prior.

The offseason has been disappointing so far. It's clear they aren't going to do much this year and are comfortable wasting another year while our core grows older. It's especially disappointing after the amount of time that was wasted on Dubas' on-the-job training.

The Leafs drafted Nylander, Marner and then Matthews and should have been able to build a competitive team around those three and have failed miserably.
They’ve been in the playoffs every year of those guys’ careers and frequently have their playoffs stopped by a team that marches to the finals. They’re competitive, they just haven’t broken down the door yet.

I'm pretty lukewarm on Treliving, and the Shanaplan has seen better days.

I am quite sick of the Dubas PR still hanging around providing commentary, like not only did we get 5 years of dancing on Lou's grave (while Lou was having more success on the Island) but now we have to hear about how Reaves ($1.3 million) and Kampf ($2.4 million) destroyed Toronto at a combined salary of $3.7 million.

The same team that didn't want to move Kerfoot's $3.5 million so they could take a run at Barbashev? The same team that's still bag holding Dubas' Matt Murray adventure to the tune of $4.7 million? Get a clue, Dom.

He only got a 4th rounder a few months ago

They didn't have. the roster to be competitive in the playoffs. when every team tightens up. Nor did they have the coaching... Dubus recycled. the depth on this roster many times and he just couldn't figure out how to build a playoff team.

Sometime you need to get worse in order to get better, just look at the Avs. But some other time, once you get worse, you will continue to get worse, just look at the Habs

Oh yea, you aren't signing him to be a defensive stalwart in any sense. He is for transition and offense from the defense which the Leafs sorely lacked all year. Not sure who pairs with him, but someone steady defensively would be ideal. Who that is... not sure.

Actually we didn't really lack that all year before the trade deadline. First half of the season when Giordano and Liljegren were playing really well and Sandin was still here we went on a really long winning streak and played some of our best hockey as a team. Pretty sure that was without Rielly too.

We're not getting worse enough to draft a generational defenseman with a lottery pick. We're just screwing up one of our best chances at a cup.

Well, Conor Timmins was a 9D on the depth chart in the playoffs so it makes sense that he would be easing into the job with a Klingberg ahead of him. Whether this was the most pressing need, you could debate that. But if we're getting Dallas or even Minnesota Klingberg its a good acquisition.

It’s the cap hit more than anything.

As I said. Puzzle is incomplete. We’ll see what happens over the next few days lol

Man I watched quite a few Ducks games last year and Klingberg looked terrible in all of them. Hate this signing

The ducks were dogshit, he was the top defenseman playing against their best forwards. Of course he’s not going to look good
