Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign Jarnkrok to a 4 year 2.1M AAV contract

I actually rather kampf centering the third line and bring up holmberg to center the fourth line then have whatever third line that is staying together or atleast move engvall in the middle and kerfoot to the wing if we are keeping him

Ha. I totally forgot about this signing and this bump reminded me it's a 4-year deal.

I've been watching him and thinking: 1. He's wearing Spezza's number; and 2. Another guy we're trying to squeeze all out of for one year at a bargain price. Whoops. :laugh:

Like most of the team so far, Jarnkrok has been underwhelming. But I still believe he's a good player. I like the signing. It's just hard to look good when the whole team hasn't been playing well.

I'm not about to write him off after only like 6 games.

I had no idea they were that committed to him.
I know he won't be hard to dump if it comes to that but I wonder what the reason for needing to go 4 years?

Good question.

Seems like a guy who will score 30 to 40 points in the bottom six while putting in a tireless effort to grind things out. $2.1 million a year isn't too punitive in that it wouldn't hold the team back if they wanted to peddle the contract off like you suggest. But for four years...I kind of was expecting that he'd be 28/29 and not 31. Don't know if he'll be worthwhile at 35 since you can find these types cheaper and younger every off-season. But nothing really to fret over either.

Jarnkrok seems like a completely safe and okay vanilla player, but seems like they may have overcompensated with this guy from the Alex Galchenyuk experiment. Galchenyuk was offensive talent who couldn't be harnessed, who scored big goals, but also burned the Leafs in big moments. Jarnkrok seems like an inert player who has no upside or downside.

Only thing is and other teams already experienced this in the playoffs.... He doesnt do anything special there. AND so many other players do. We dont need anymore players Who wont do anything special or real dirt the playoffs. Thats what our team needs.

He is currently outperforming Soup at half the cost, or are we just going to take his career year and assume that is the standard for Mikheyev?

Such boring and meaningless takes after 7 games.
