Better than Hutson & Mintyukov?
IMO, yeah. He was my highest ranked dman going into the draft, so you can't call me a homer either ;)
Will he get a path in NJD? They seem pretty loaded on the right side.
Yeah I think he will, he's jumped Casey in the depth charts. We will likely move on from Hamilton or Kovacevic soonish.

Pesce
Hamilton/Kovacevic
Casey
Nemec

How did he look in yesterday's game? That was one hell of a shot he scored on, but sadly I missed the game.
He looked pretty good, battled hard. He and Luke got hemmed in a few times in the 2nd, but he defended really well around the net (and them getting hemmed in really wasn't on him). They outshot the opponent 10-4 with Casey on the ice, though strangely enough he had a 37% xG% or something like that.

He really only made 1 bad play the whole game (in the 1st period).

NJ has to move Nemec soon to get back as much as possible. He still has his draft pedigree to maximize the return. The longer they wait, the more risk there is that people clue in to him turning out to be more of a top 4 dman than a top 2.

See Jiricek trade as benchmark.

Seems Nemec has had poor underlying numbers for some time now. Teams with strong analytics departments, like Seattle, will already be suspicious even if their pro scouts aren't yet. Jiricek also has the that desired extra size to fall back on if he misses out on top pairing development.

On that marathon shift when they were hemmed in, he was battling net front with a dude who is 6'5 232 and was holding his own... and as you mentioned it wasn't due to him or Luke that they couldn't get it out
