Al Trautwig is about as iconic as the Saxophone of the 90s Knicks/Rangers intro and the Sam Rosen "it's a powerplay goal!" RIP.

Man. So sorry to see this. Even as an Islanders/Orioles fan growing up in the NYC-area I always appreciated Al's professionalism, and class. Had that unique ability to make big games, feel even bigger. RIP.

Eh it's not really right to joke about in my opinion. Look, I very much dislike Stan Fischler for many reasons both as a fan in the late 80s/early 90s and when I applied for an internship with him in the early 2000s and he was very crabby on the phone to a young kid who just wanted to get into hockey, but let him enjoy the later years and tweet. He doesn't even live in the NY area anymore.

I found out the first external counsel I worked with in my first legit job passed away, he was around Al's age. And two financial analysts for a competitor both young parents died a few weeks back in an accident. Life is short and goes by quick.

Well, I knew Fischler tangentially and probably talked about it here over time, not that I expect everyone here to remember that. He was best friends with one of my clients for many years and wound up hiring his son as an intern maybe 25 years ago. My client published his books. Eventually they fell out and sued each other. I couldn't stand him and made certain that he knew it. I didn't call him a prick for nothing.

This one really hits home. You could hear Trautwig's voice in my house everyday when I was a kid while my parents made dinner. getting old sucks. I hope Al's love of the game and NY sports is inspiration to future generations.

I am so very sad right now, always enjoyed Al, we went way back together via my teams.
He wasn't right when he left us on the air, may he Rest in Every Peace.

Unapologetic winner picker in my youth I guess. 1983 pretty good times for NYI & BAL (I was 6-7 yrs old). I always loved the Cartoon Bird too. Little did I know what I was in for the next 30-40 yrs. Lol.
