Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign F Ryan Reaves (3 years, $1.3M AAV)

They almost missed the playoffs and got carried by Bob in the playoffs, I am not sure this did anything... having said that, I look forward to Domi sucker-punching Ekblad or someone else on Florida if this happens again

Ekblad said scores will be settled (they weren't). That is soft, at least don't make the threats.

You’re looking forward to someone sucker punching someone?

When Matthews was getting rag-dolled would you have wished the remaining Leafs had bloodied the Hab? All four try to tear his nose off his face?

Is it possible that the AAV and term is so he can be "sent to the A" on paper without much worry of getting claimed? Similar to Simmonds last year.

I really don't see him playing anywhere close to every game, but they can't afford to keep him in the press box if I'm correct.

What is his cap hit if he's assigned to the Marlies?

Klingberg is the problem we didn’t need him what so ever especially at 4.5. Everyone on these threads have said for years that we are soft and have nobody to stick up for their team or themselves, Reaves is the answer here. No way he plays 3 years he’ll be retired after this year or the next
Aren't there still cap implications though since it's at >35

How often do players retire and forfeit earnings ?

It's a pretty lame campaign to turn a $1.3M aav contract into the thin wedge of cleavage against the new GM. Please keep this one alive, it's utterly laughable as a criticism.

P.S. I'm still predicting that Reaves will be utter failure as a positive dressing room leader as he'll be ignored/shunned by the players with real power in that room. I'm expecting a trade request by Reaves before the end of his first season here and BT will easily find a suitor to take Reaves' contract off his hands.

I doubt Reaves will be ignored/shunned by the team.

I hope you're right.
If our leaders are a quiet bunch in the room and on the bench and they ignore/shun a guy who comes in to try and change/fix that then maybe we need to look at this core and shake things up. At some point you have to put your foot down after you give them everything they want and the best they can do for us in the last 7-8 years is give us 5 wins in the playoffs in 1 year.

Can also always bury him in the minors and see if someone picks him up off waivers or trading him for futures. I can’t see this contract hurting us

It doesn't hurt... it just may be a reason we need to dump someone like Timmins, if he is replaced with a league minimum contract or Robertson/McMann/Steeves, then we can run 21 players.

I hope Matthews asked Treliving to bring him in to help change the culture. Im skeptical, but it would be a step in the right direction.

Has winning ever followed Reaves around? I am genuinely curious why we think he will be a good influence...

Vegas. Y’all missed that first season but I watched every game they played.

This is a fanbase that has many still upset that Nylander got like $250k more than they wanted 5 years ago. Reaves is one of the worst players in the league making $550k more than league minimum.

I don't love the three years but I'm looking forward to watching Reaves absolutely cave a few faces in.
I'm more expecting he'll get the Simmonds treatment, where he'll just pick up random penalties and misconducts in scrums and the refs will rarely let him fight.
