The outlook has gotten a lot brighter suddenly. Max adds some good speed, some aggravation to the opposition, and most importantly he's got a good IQ. He's one of those guys that makes those high end passes into the slot that connect for scoring chances.

If we get 90% of both Max and and the "Zoo." The top 6 is going to be all league as far as 5v5 scoring.

You understand that we need defensive to compete, right? He hasn't added a single player that is even competent defensively to account for the losses of Accari, Ror, Kerfoot and Schenn. Holl was better defensively than anyone we've added.

We are becoming less a well rounded team and more the Edmonton Oilers, but in a tougher division.

I like the additions today, especially of Domi, but Treliving hasn't done squat to receive praise. He did what all GM's do, but he also let a few players go that we absolutely should have re-signed.

If Reaves can carry his weight on the 4th line, man, that's a tough looking team. We're basically paying minimum wage for Reaves and if he pans out for us, Treliving could look like a genius.

schenn and O’reilly were both offered good money and term, and reportedly chose to leave anyway. Brad did well not overpaying just to retain them.

Treliving was handed a bad hand and done a great job so far evading the landmines of the past.. Its very smart convincing these players to take 1 year deals because then he can go to 3 Amigos later and show if you leave some money on the table we will be able to bring them back if they work out and if some don't no big deal and their UFAs at seasons end.

Try before you buy long term, on prove it contracts, should really bring out the best in the new players working for their next contracts.

Once we know where Matthews and Nylander land on their next deals it would be easier for BT to make plans going forward.

Kane and Toews have all the money in the world. Take league minimum with the Leafs to win another cup. Maybe we could move Jarnkrok for cap space to help address the defense.

Max isn't his dad, but one thing for sure, if he's on the ice when a teammate is a victim of a cheap shot or late hit, he's going in. We won't be saying, "why is everyone skating away" anymore. He may get penalized, but no one will get away with just walking away from pulling cheap shots.
