When it's close, they should just let it go. The goal can be called back if it's offside but there's no way to make up for a clean zone entry. Just a real stupid league

I've said many times, this is not a Stanley Cup winning blue line. Not even close.

To be fair they usually are better than tonight but the ongoing theme of too many bad plays, bad passes, missed assignments continues and the reality that if they didn't have Campbell bailing them they wouldn't be one of the league leaders in GA.
My opinion also...Yes better usually than tonight but still not great...They have to make the simpler, safer play "when it's available to them"... Take those chances in the offensive zone , not your own.

Barabanov ended up better than his stint with the Leafs showed.
Not having a proper training camp probably didn't help.

I also think Muzzin and Holl are back to "normal". They've been really good lately and in that period, I thought they were great. Holl in particular seems a little less slugish and a little more involved.
I kinda feel bad for Holl getting caught like he did at the end of a long and busy shift and than taking all the unreserved criticism

The Leafs are tied for 6th in xGA/60 at All-Strengths, and 3rd is only 0.03 xGA/60 better. Campbell definitely helps raise that GA/60 number, because that is what any goalie who is better than average does.

It is not like Campbell is masking this defense though. Our defense is still top 5-10 in their own right.

Watched a lot of games today there were several  in every one of them.

I know it's probably already been said but thank god Rielly was no worse for ware. Injuries from block shots always get my heart racing even though most times players just walk it off. Obviously that's not always the case and a broken ankle or foot could put a player out for months. Point is whenever I see a key player from the Leafs hobbling around from a routine play anxiety kicks in even though they're completely fine 95% of the time.

Hated that 1st period yes they are up 2 - 1 but they were WAY to lose with the puck to many grade A chances given up, the goal Woll did allow was a softie and 3 dumb penalties although at least Ritchie took a guy with him.

Score aside awful period
