2-1 after one and 8 shots against isn’t that bad. That 17-18 team would get burned for a couple after a period like that.
In terms of chances it’s similar to back then, we gave up a lot more in the first then we usually do

can’t expect us to be perfect every period though, they’ll bounce back

Phanuef’s skating kind of caught up with him. Just couldn’t keep up. That was really it. Often caught out of position because his pinches never resulted in anything positive

I meant how he dropped off before he even left Calgary, he went from be a hybrid Al Mcinnis/Stevens to being booted out of town. I know his skating here was meh, and he lost his offensive edge, I'm just perplexed at his fall from grace in Calgary.

My spirit is willing, but my flesh is spongey and bruised. Have to call it a night boys. GLG get that win

We’re winning. Don’t go to bed yet!! ;);););););)

JK. Have a good night bud, but, be warned, if the Sharks take the lead in the 2nd, I am going to tag you in posts to wake you up and get you to continue watching!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I am very superstitious. Lol.

Not a great period but up 2 to 1, I think I'll take it.

Matthews needs to get his head out of his arse, he's got one of the best set up man in hockey and isn't working hard enough to take advantage of it.

I've said many times, this is not a Stanley Cup winning blue line. Not even close.

To be fair they usually are better than tonight but the ongoing theme of too many bad plays, bad passes, missed assignments continues and the reality that if they didn't have Campbell bailing them they wouldn't be one of the league leaders in GA.

yeah it was weird! I guess as guys mature, sometimes they try to change their game. I think he tried too hard to be this defensive stalwart and once the game moved away from that blindside middle ice hit, he couldn’t create turnovers leading to odd man rushes like he did early in Calgary. That was his signature, kill someone mid ice, take the puck and score lol

2 PKs and only 8 shots against is definitely not the worst thing in the world, albeit I'm sure the shot attempts are higher.

Definitely not the tidy defensive work we've been accustomed to this season. Very loose.
I think 0 shots allowed on 2 pk's , not too shabby

I also think Muzzin and Holl are back to "normal". They've been really good lately and in that period, I thought they were great. Holl in particular seems a little less slugish and a little more involved.

You don't need to have a "stanley cup winning Blueline" to win a cup, many teams have done it before and will after. The issue for the Leafs f*** ups in the post season, is how easily our core gets shut down, you can't win squat if your best players can't be bothered to show up.

LOL I loved that style I don't know why he switched up... his best was him levelling Avery, and then scoring a top shelf goal after the fact.
