Phaneuf fell off hard, I have no clue why. Karlsson I can understand, a history of ankle/feet injuries have taken its toll, and also the death of his baby (his wife miscarried) had a bad toll on his mental health. Those two things have had a huge impact on Karlssons' game.

How much money do these refs have on the Sharks in this game? The Sharks were getting away with blatant interference and clutching and grabbing the entire period.

I am not one to complain about reffing, but, my god, that was a horrific job by them in that 1st.

Jasper Weatherby, probably San Jose’s next Barclay Goodrow type player. They just churn out guys like that.
 
Can you imagine paying money to go out and watch this game....

Lilly, who I love, has been awful, as has Holl, but lilly has been hot fish on the dock, stinky...

They have hung this kid Woll out to dry so far.... Kudos to the kid, playing okay,....

Our defense has just been abysmal in our own end. Hopefully we can reset to start the 2nd
 
Leafs need to solidify their top 4 and make a t a move for a 2nd pairing D.

I'm happy that they are trying to rid the game of crosschecks, but the clear and repeated interference from D Men is getting worse.
 
Well, we are ahead after one. Messy period by both teams and the puck is taking weird bounces all over the place. But, we are ahead. So smile and get me a beer

2 PKs and only 8 shots against is definitely not the worst thing in the world, albeit I'm sure the shot attempts are higher.

Definitely not the tidy defensive work we've been accustomed to this season. Very loose.

Phanuef’s skating kind of caught up with him. Just couldn’t keep up. That was really it. Often caught out of position because his pinches never resulted in anything positive
 
The defensive structure of this year's team has been the best I've probably ever seen of any Leafs team in my lifetime, but that period was vomit inducing. Woll gave up that soft goal but more than made up for it with some great saves. PS Nylander is on a mission tonight, just a beast early.
