Apparently the tanenbaums and the treliving family are really tight.

Thats my only hope its not treeliving

Small markets have trouble attracting the big fish.Treliving loves those mid tier free agents, the ones you should never sign.
Burke did hire Treliving as GM in Calgary.I don't think I have had less confidence in upper Leaf management since the Burke days after the Kessel trade.

How long does Armstrong have left in his contract?Kyper says doug’s dream Would be gm of the leafs but basically says its still a long shot due to his contract

Bring in Treliving with Pridham on that length of deal. If we win, party.
If not, torch it all and start over with Armstrong.
Too slow for DUBAS, not everyone is DubasDubas already said the process was too slow, this would be adding an additional approval in the process.
Ahh gotcha.
He'd be likeOr he gets added to the long list of ex Leafs lifting the cup over their head. I think Pittsburg is a bad destination for Dubas. But a good young team with new owners willing to spend to the max down the 401 ? Battle of Ontario could be pretty fun

Army can replace Shanny. Douglas Armstrong (born September 24, 1964) is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive, currently the President of hockey operations and general manager for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is also a former general manager of the NHL's Dallas Stars. How long does Armstrong have left in his contract?

88 and 34 need new contracts. We saw what happened the last time a rookie handled their negotiations. Then again, they will give 34 what he asks for so you might be right. LOLIf Shanahan doesn't want to trade any of the core 4 why do we need an experienced GM.
Just get the best candidate or is he afraid of the contracts for mathews marner and Nylander .
Matheau Darche from what I here has been in on every trade descussions in TB.
If Shanny felt the need to get involved, then you’d have to think he didn’t have faith in his GM. Why would he have wanted to re-sign Dubas? If you look at dubas moves and you were president wouldnt you maybe get involved as well?
The best boss i ever had stepped in on me a couple times to veto but with perspective and experienceIf Shanny felt the need to get involved, then you’d have to think he didn’t have faith in his GM. Why would he have wanted to re-sign Dubas?
Not going to happen. One of the reasons Treliving left Calgary is because ownership insisted on keeping Sutter. How would you feel if the Leafs hired Treliving and he replaced Keefe with Sutter?
We already went through that during the Burke/Nonis era. Hopefully history will not repeat itself.Long term deals to aging middle of the lineup players kill rosters, especially when they’re overpaid and have trade protection. 9/10 times you see a roster go from a consistent playoff team to a mismanaged bubble team, the previous offseason or two almost always saw that team sign several 30 year old grinders to a 6x6 or worse. We haven’t had that issue since Marleau, I guess Murray is the closest?
Just in time to sign McDavid as a UFA.3 years

hmmmm, Yeah Tkachuk going to look Really good hoisting that cup.And all that success, dont forget about all that success
Matthews is gone and the return will be trash.Dubas was mediocre. The time to fire him was after the Montreal collapse. Firing him now, with all these contracts coming up for renewal is a massive cluster. If this blows up it's all on Shanahan, and he needs to be shown the door if Matthews doesn't re-sign, or they get an awful return for him.
Someone came up with a more extensive list of questionable contracts from Treliving.
This fanbase would kill to have Kadri come back here at 7x7.
It seems like management took Sutter's side after the season when it came down to Brad and his coach. They might have wanted him in the first place...but then again...Brad has a spotty record in picking coaches...so who knows.I don't. Usually it is the GM that hires the coach.
