And Pitts is going to go with a perennial loser
Clean slate when/if he comes here
Or he gets added to the long list of ex Leafs lifting the cup over their head. I think Pittsburg is a bad destination for Dubas. But a good young team with new owners willing to spend to the max down the 401 ? Battle of Ontario could be pretty fun

The best GMs typically remain employed...unless someone wants this job enough to convince their current employer to let them go, the candidates may not be all that intriguing.
I'm not conderned, right now the Leafs are in a better spot, call it addition by subtraction or something witty like that..........

At some point da CAP has to get AXED .. da league is bush league .. it will never be best on best due to CAP .. maybe some of you guys like watching Cats vs Canes or Dallas vs Vegas but to most of us over 50 this is southern who cares .. espn reports 1st round playoffs Boston and NY tv markets were up 22% over 2022 .. but then 2nd round numbers dropped 15% below 2022 as Boston and NY tuned out and rumours are 3rd round is a disaster .. can you imagine cats vs vegas?????? maybe worst tv numbers ever recorded .. and this is ESPN folks a much better media
I have not watch one Hockey game since Game 5.
As I really don’t have interest in any of the teams except Vegas due to Phil.

That kind of attitude needs to stay out of sports. If this is how people want to see things we might as well shrink the amount of teams in the league to only the markets that pull the best TV ratings and fan approval so people aren't complaining if a team like Florida makes it to the final by beating all the top teams in the league in 1 playoff run. Saw it a lot in the NBA this year with people complaining about a possible Heat vs Nuggets final just because they're mad LeBron won't make it and possibly the Celtics.
It is da truth .. NBA numbers in playoffs 2023 have been their best ever recorded .. Miami v Boston are 2 huge basketball markets and LA vs anyone, especially a midwest team, is amazing .. but Denver v Miami gets you a limited audience .. even worse Vegas vs Cats .. folks in US espn will likely move games to espn2 as it won't be viewed at all which is sad truth

Kind of sounds like the Leafs except for the "new". Could not get it done. Maybe a few doobies from Snoop Dog will push him over the top.

Hamilton
Shanahan is President
Treliving is Vice-President
Tulsky is GM
Pridham is AGM
Dubas already said the process was too slow, this would be adding an additional approval in the process.

Doug Armstrong. I can't see him coming here for a lower position and he's under contract with the Blues. They did discuss a position where he and Shanny share duties. Good luck with that.
Ahh gotcha.

Someone came up with a more extensive list of questionable contracts from Treliving.

Yeah that's very ungood, especially secondary players like Brouwer and Frolik. Giving 4-5 year deals to those players was bad. James Neal completely imploded and regressed his first year with the Flames and never really recovered to his ~30g form. Huberdeau will bounce back but that's also pretty bad, same for Markstrom. Rest seem more than fine though?

The thing people need to understand is that GMs have these blemishes on their resume quite a bit.

But why does any of that matter during the playoffs? Are we just gonna start rigging games so these bigger market teams can advance to keep ratings high?

Long term deals to aging middle of the lineup players kill rosters, especially when they’re overpaid and have trade protection. 9/10 times you see a roster go from a consistent playoff team to a mismanaged bubble team, the previous offseason or two almost always saw that team sign several 30 year old grinders to a 6x6 or worse. We haven’t had that issue since Marleau, I guess Murray is the closest?

For sure. Something Dubas did well to avoid... probably because he had no cap space to compete with other teams to sign these players but he avoided term to any player that wasn't seen as a core player. Sometimes they work out though. I think Coleman was a fine signing at the time for them and still doing well. Hyman with his current contract but with Toronto would have been fine but maybe in a few years it becomes a problem.

Mrazek and Ritchie were 2 terrible signings but the term made it possible to dump them quickly.
