That wasn’t an anti-dump and chase thing, you should be good at every breakout and rotate through all of them unless you’re facing a specifically exploitable defense at one of them. My point about the fast entry off the fake drop pass is that it makes the drop pass more effective when you alternate fakes and real ones, dump and chase is telegraphed before they have an opportunity to bite on a fake drop.

Yeah I think we probably want the same thing. A skilled dynamic team that can do it with skill, deception, execution and lay the body when required.

Who else had P. Myers on their number one Leaf list going into last night's game..?

For a player I havent seen much of, he was the only Leaf I had as consistently making the right play all over the ice last night. Great showing for him!
Yeah, I agree that he was pretty good. He's not flashy though. I think his simple game can go unnoticed.

Was at the game last night, I liked Knies, Holmberg, Robertson and Mcmann the most. Timmins played solid as well and his passing really stood out. Goaltenders were both good I thought. No one else really stood out, unfortunately Mattinen looked poor. I really think Holmberg should have a spot on that 4th line I'm really liking his game

Looked good to me, I love physical stay at home Dmen…….

I’m sure it wasn’t unnoticed by Berube, at least I hope not…….

Imo Holmberg should be the number 3 center on this team. Rather have him there than Kämpf or Tavares.

I know I've got my finger over the panic button.

They just lost the first two games in a row under Berube. Their performance has been lacklustre, inconsistent, and just plain old not good enough. Anyone trying to impress has only magnified how much they stink instead.

On the other hand Nylander had a whopping three whole hits last night.

I guess Berube's influence is wearing off on him. Maybe there's hope for him after all. Oh wait... that was ALEX Nylander... lol my bad.

I knew it couldn't possibly have been William.

Anyone hoping the Leafs would show some get up and go after their pathetic performance the other night was sorely mistaken. A pathetic team lost to an even more pathetic team. Or maybe it was the other way around.

I got anxiety just watching these bumbling boobs already.

Cowan hasn't been bad by any means, hustles and plays hard on the wall etc, but I just think when it comes down to the final roster he's not beating anyone out (although, instead of sending him directly to JR, I'd keep him up with the team for awhile, let him play his 8 games, practice with the team etc until it's world JRs time).
Challenge with this is you would have to risk losing someone to waivers to get him his 8 games.

Hockey question. What exactly do these pros do to play such terrible hockey in preason. Do they slow it down ? Or stop skating and pass too early...its like they all suck.
They are resting, playing not to get hurt. Mathews must have tried to hard already.

Last night just reinforces the point that there is very little to be excited about in the Leafs' prospect pool, at least in the near future.

I just hope Treliving continues to buck the Dubas trend of mortgaging the future at every trade deadline. That we actually have a future when the Core is gone and maybe some hope the next generation can win something.

(I know, my optimism for this year is just overflowing isn't it?)

Yes, you were sold some of these young guys are ready...almost. We have a weakish pool with no picks of our own next year.

Only 6 picks traded last year.

We can go back to tanking so we have something to look forward to though.

2 of the top 5 prospects played last night, two are out with injuries, and one hasn't played a game yet.
