I am looking forward to the "we have to be better" post game interviews.

Going to have to look at ourselves in the mirror, regroup, and get ready for the next one. But they liked their game just got unlucky. Cause they can never admit they got outworked.

I’m just tired of Fred. People want to act like we are the only team in the league that allows these opportunities. Happens to every team every game, just doesn’t end up in the back of the net every time.

4 goals, 15 shots. Not close to good enough.

Whether you can blame Freddy tonight or not, the fact is ,in my opinion, that they can’t win with him.
He should have been gone after his performance in the playoffs ( again) .
His confidence, and that of the team in front of him looks to be shattered.

listen, this game shows you the immaturity of this group. Possession domination yet you get outscored 3-1 in the period. cross crease passes to absolutely no one, perimeter play, trying the cute plays, whiffing on passes, blind passes.. you name it. These guys underestimate the opponent all the time. No taking nights off! Absolutely pathetic performance. Andersen is absolute garbage.
I was just about to say this. Same problems as last year. The Leafs won't go to the front of the net and they won't stop the other team from going to the front of their net. These are signs of Charmin softness.

Pretty much.
All teams give up chances and some allow more, but their goalies make the saves.
We need ours to make saves.

You can't allow mutiple questionable goals, and then make 2 good stops, and say did his job.

LMAO

Matthews scores oh what a shot no chance

- someone scores on us, Freddy bashers out in numbers (mostly Dubas fans)

its a freakin' shame

and.... go ahead go find a goalie that is going to stand on his head while team defense is a joke for majority of the season and in the playoffs for the available cap space that to the same moronic gm LOL

I'm mostly dead inside after the last year's real life events have made things pretty poor, so this stuff doesn't bother me like it would have in the past.

Leafs are playing down to their competition

Thornton looks too slow to play with Marner and Matthews.

Spezza-Barabanov are not doing much.

Andersen hasn't looked good.

Tavares line has been our best through 2 games.

A few levels below it fam

1. Anderson has been very suspect through two games. He's made a very small handful of above average saves. Pretty much everything that hasn't been basic, has gone in. He doesn't look comfortable at all.

2. Matthews and Marner get paid a combined 22.5 million (over 25% of the cap). They need to score goals. I know, I know, chances, etc, etc... Start putting some of these high danger chances in the net. Mitch needs to go back to looking to set Auston up, not the other way around.

3. Nylander looks like a completely different player than he did on Wednesday. He took a nice open ice hit early and hasn't looked confident since.

4. It's no wonder we get worked in the playoffs, when teams bring this type of effort Ottawa is showing, with significantly more skill than this Sens team has.

5. It doesn't seem to matter who we add to the defense core. Our team defensive structure is seems to be just as much of a mess as it's always been. We lose more guys during the play than any team I can remember seeing.

Credit Ottawa. They've been opportunistic!

It’s two periods in, and I don’t think I’ve said “nice save Freddy” yet.

Every tough shot has gone in, or hit the post.

I'm talking about this game.
Okay but ignoring his past play of making good saves when it counts most (i.e. last game) and then saying things like:

"The question quite literally becomes: Can he make a save that isn't LD. "

Doesn't make sense to me. He clearly can make a save.

Leafs have dominated this game.

Freddy has been horrendous.

They need to convert, possession isn't good enough if you're not scoring. Ottawa is one of the worst teams on the planet, if they were properly dominating they'd be winning yeah we can blame Freddy(and he's been god awful) but the Leafs are responsible for converting here. And lots of their possession is perimeter work.

But yes Ottawa has been terrible and is terrible the Leafs are beating themselves.

Their "kicking ass" was largely punctuated by a long shift around the perimeter where they didn't really make an attempt, they need to go for the throat. I'm sorry the notion the Leafs were ever great in this game is a huge misnomer.

I'm not a doomsayer but this is a really bad start, this has not been a good team so far I know hfboards flips on the scoreboard but this is sloppy stuff.

But yes Freddy has been f***ing awful.

They were not kicking ass. They were playing a perimeter puck possession game and showed very little ability to penetrate the Ottawa slot area. Showed pretty clearly they were more interested in making easy skill plays than taking the boot to the Sens.

Tough crowd. Maybe “kicking ass” was too strong but they did have the Sens on their heels. Had a chance to pressure a tired group before Brodie f***ed up at the blue line (and has subsequently f***ed up in front of our net), Kerfoot line did good work before his goal. Sure they didn’t penetrate too much but I mean f*** they were doing better than they have been since.
