LMAO

Matthews scores oh what a shot no chance

- someone scores on us, Freddy bashers out in numbers (mostly Dubas fans)

its a freakin' shame

and.... go ahead go find a goalie that is going to stand on his head while team defense is a joke for majority of the season and in the playoffs for the available cap space that to the same moronic gm LOL

You don't see the difference between Matthews, one of, if not the BEST goal scorer in the league vs NICK f***ING PAUL?

We've been by far the better team imo, sure there's been defensive breakdowns...on both sides. The difference is Matt Murray is bailing out his team and Andersen hasn't and it kills all our momentum.

Freddy was bad last year and he has looked small with bad reads again this year.. it's only the second game but it still is worrying with a short season..
I agree that the leafs have been the better team. But I disagree goaltending has been the difference.

The leafs missed the net entirely on most of their high danger chances, and don't even get a shot at all on their 2 on 1's.

At some point it's as much a "lack of finish" problem as much as a goaltending problem.

You will complain when the third line has no one that can produce.

Hey, I'm a leafs fan, I complain about everything and rightfully so. But that doesn't change my point. Thornton might in turn benefit from speedy guys like Kerfoot and Mikey.

Not "alone". The word you're looking for is "only".
Lol he definitely made more than 2 good saves... go re watch the condensed game as I think that is an outlandish thing to say he literally only made 2 good saves that entire game.

Montreal had like 6 breakaways and didn't score the vast majoirty of them

Have the sens had one legit scoring chance that hasn't gone in the net yet.

They had a few non-scoring chances almost end up in the net thanks to Fred, in addition to the goals he couldn't stop.

Tough crowd. Maybe “kicking ass” was too strong but they did have the Sens on their heels. Had a chance to pressure a tired group before Brodie f***ed yo at the blue line (and has subsequently f***ed up in front of our net), Kerfoot line did good work before his goal. Sure they didn’t penetrate too much but I mean f*** they were doing better than they have been since.

Yes they were definitely doing better than they have been since I will grant that. They were the better team through the first half but given the massive skill discrepancy not destroying these guys and putting the game out of reach isn't enough.

did Nick f***ing Paul beat Freddy clean while team defense had taken away his chances and made it hard for opposition to control play in the defensive zone?

Look it's not Fred's fault. The team has quite literally given up 4 good chances all game and those are the 4 goals that have gone in. The issue is ALL teams give up good chances.

The question quite literally becomes: Can he make a save that isn't LD. It's the difference between a good and elite goalie.
Even the worst goalies save most high danger chances against

Not that it's an excuse for some of the play but you have to wonder if the guys are also sick and tired of Freddy shitting the bed.

You outplay a team for long stretches and one breakdown leafs to a puck in the back of your net.
There is only a matter of time Dubas seeks an upgrade

Well... they actually get shots on their 2 on 1's, and don't miss the net on their high danger scoring chances.

Okay but ignoring his past play of making good saves when it counts most (i.e. last game) and then saying things like:

"The question quite literally becomes: Can he make a save that isn't LD. "

Doesn't make sense to me. He clearly can make a save.

Okay, well he hasn't today. And it's becoming something that KEEPS happening.

There's literal data to back it up.

I was just about to say this. Same problems as last year. The Leafs won't go to the front of the net and they won't stop the other team from going to the front of their net. These are signs of Charmin softness.
They’re all puck watchers, it’s a simple game, skate your balls off for 35 seconds and change.

Why does overreacting about Freddie feel like a weird meme. He’s not that good but it’s not like the second coming of Vesa Toskala.
You would like him to be better but high danger chances go in. Like it or not Matthews quick chance in front of the net was not remotely close to the wide open look Auston Watson had.
Stopping a tip from 5 feet out and screened is pretty nasty as well.

Don't disagree on the missed chances, they need to execute better.
