Post-Game Talk: Leafs overcome the refs and steal a win

REFS CAN ALL GO SUCK A BIG ONE. Great fight by the Leafs to never let up even when the refs were trying to screw them over!

I never feel guilty for a win.

Too often I have seen the Leafs dominate 40-50 mins of a game to play a lousy 10-20 and lose.

Nice to steal one tonight

With the amount of goals called back, the Leafs stole back a win that Dan O'Rourke had originally taken away. Washington was just a bystander.

Yeah really, I kept expecting to see him appear on screen but he never did and suddenly Tavares is picking up the puck cleanly and cutting in on goal...

His last save of the game on ovechkin was so clutch



Then mitch Marner cleared the rebound (puck) all the way to the capitals territory, Tavares on a breakaway skated hard to win the race for the loose puck. Then coming from the right wing m, he picked it up the puck in the faceoff zone, went straight to the net, moved from right to left, and scored in between the pads of Logan Thompson to win it for the leafs in overtime .

We should have got a penalty before that 6-4 situation but I will take it. That was a character win tonight. Nice save by Woll at the end and a nice tuck by Tavares.

Not even close. A few years ago Keefe had Kampf starting every overtime. (The reason being that the Leafs had lost every previous overtime game that season because they lost the draw and never got possession of the puck.)

Woll made a couple huge saves this game.

i don't know if the advanced stats would even support this but he made like 2-3 really big saves, and then the Ovi point blank to the JT breakaway

he had a sub .900 but he shut the door when we needed it

Shots were 18-7 for the Leafs in the third. Washington tried to coast and it bit them in the ass.

TBH coming back like that on the tail end of that back to back is noteworthy

Guys who are expected to show up did. JT, Mitch, Willy, and McMann (who has shown to be better than he has recently) with goals and Rielly and Knies with helpers.

5 interceptions and still win the game incredible!

Best part was Jerry Jones before the game being asked about Dallas losing again, and saying (and I quote): "No team could overcome 5 turnovers and win!"
And this has been yet another entry in "the Lions make Jerry look stupid" category.

Also that was a massive save by Woll on Ovechkin before the Tavares goal. That's getting kind of lost in everything but good on Brick for standing tall against one of the best goal scorers in the league.

My favorite current Leafs are Tavares and Marner. If you say that on HF Leafs, people will react like you just admitted to support dog fighting or something. But tonight is why. They're both great, and we're lucky to get to watch them in Toronto.

He probably didn't even see the shot but the way he rushed out to cut the angle was perfect.

Hakanpaa was pretty mobile too. A bit disjointed, first game, but he was moving well actually.
