He scores out at the bottom for the team but for his first game back in the show in 8 months I think it was a fine outing. Need to see him after a few more practices and games to really get a feel for him.

Also Jesus Christ talk about domination by Timmins.

Yeah seems to fit the eye test. Not sure I'd play Hakanpaa a lot but I'd rotate him with Benoit and see who wins out in the next few weeks.

I would love to see a line of Lorentz, Dewar and with someone like Steeves.

That was a gutsy win.

They had to overcome not 1 but 2 BULLSHIT no goal calls.

And then save on Ovechkin in OT.

Look Woll has been up and down this year including tonight but when they needed the BIG save he gave it to them.

Hopefully he can get hot to.

Because if he can start going the way Stolarz is going the team will be set in goal.

Shots were 18-7 for the Leafs in the third. Washington tried to coast and it bit them in the ass.
Leafs played decent defense on the road tonight. They came back hard in the third period, they dominated puck possession, had more shots and dangerous scoring chances than the caps, they put pressure on the caps and forced them to make turnovers and bad decisions. Woll redeemed himself in the third and in overtime. He made the saves that mattered

Once again, you can hope to see your favorite team win if your best players perform as expected. And they did show up tonight

Nylander/Marner/Tavares with 1 goal, 1 assist each (2 points each)

Knies 1 assist

Tanev/McCabe pairing was mobile, reliable and solid as rock

Lorentz/mcMann the best bottom six forwards tonight. McMann with a goal and Lorentz should have had one.

OEL was surprisingly feisty and physical. Otherwise he was consistent and reliable as always

Hakanpaa was more mobile and more involved offensively than expected. He’s got good fundamentals and offensive instincts. Curious to see more about him.

Rielly had a nice and clutch lateral pass on marner’s goal during the 6 on 4 powerplay (Woll was pulled) in the last minute of the third

None of them deserve to be in the HOF like Mogilny. The fact that he has been shunned is a travesty.
Went from hating Leaf killer Mogilny with the Devils to loving him in the blink of an eye when Quinn (peace be with him) got him as a UFA.

Just a brilliant turnaround: bring in the guy who kills you all the time and let him kill everyone else.

Quinn was a genius….

Last 10 games league wide:

Winnipeg: 9-1-0
Carolina: 9-1-0
Florida: 8-2-0
Minnesota: 7-2-1
Vancouver: 7-2-1
Toronto: 6-2-2

Hmmmm, maybe not such a train wreck after all.
The leafs are one of the best teams in the league. It is silly to moan when the team has lost one of its last 5 games. They will clobber Edmonton on Saturday and continue to create more separation in the division.

It's crazy how Tavares just continues to score and put up points in spite of how many people across the league and in Leafs nation crap on the guy.

Definitely the most underappreciated goal scorer of his generation, guy's a better scorer than Kessel or Kane (in terms of goals per game production) and will end up as a Top 50 goal scorer of all time.

27 goals and 50 points in his last 53 games with a 63% 5v5 goal differential and top ten faceoff guy in the league and we get hate threads on him around here!?!

Since he entered the league (16 seasons including this one), he ranks 4th for goals (one behind Crosby for third) and 5th for points. Considering the era he's played in, his adjusted goals and points are trending towards him placing top 20 for goals and top 30 for points all time. Underappreciated doesnt seem strong enough a word.
