:help: I’ll admit you’re one entertaining poster. We’re laughing but it’s at you and not with you.
And I laugh at you guys crapping all over the team after a loss and gushing over them after a couple of wins. The Leafs are going to win the worst division in the league. Plan the parade.

Because the playoffs are 3 months away, the deadline is about 9 weeks away and you are convinced Jones is the playoff starter and I don't know why.

Look at Woll's injury, it came on a nothing play, a muffin shot, it doesn't take much.

We are ONE bad bounce or movement away from not having an NHL goalie, and no Samsonov doesn't count he's mentally broken.

I'm not convinced the game 1 starter is currently on this roster, Woll is injury prone, Samsonov is mentally broken and Martin Jones is Martin Jones
Im not convinced of anything and things can certainly change but as of right now he would be the starter. It’s certainly not impossible to think that as things currently stand he would start. Not sure why you find a simple discussion so offensive.

I don’t crap all over the team. Hardly true at all and you know that. I live in reality and use common sense. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism when it’s warranted. Anyways I hope you’re right and leaf’s do win the cup. It’s a long shot but that’s been the goal for years now.

All I've said is that they will reach the finals this season, because the East doesn't have an appreciably better team. The West is a different story. Vegas and Colorado are different animals, and whether the Leafs could beat either of those teams in a 7 game series is a different conversation (and obviously depends on whether either of those teams comes out of the West). I had originally thought that Jersey would be Toronto's biggest competition in the East, and while that still may end up being the case, Jersey has dug themselves a bit of a hole, and they need to find a starting goalie even more than the Leafs do (there is no Woll waiting to come back in Jersey).

In the end, I think Colorado should win the Cup, but it requires them to replace RJ with a better centre option by the deadline, and it requires Landeskog coming back for the playoffs. If those things happen, I think Colorado will be hard to beat. In the meantime, I do think the Leafs will eventually pass Florida and Boston. I also don't think it will be some grand achievement when they do it.

We have yet to see the "playoff versions" of these teams in the the East. Any of them could be better or worse by then, due to injuries, TDL additions, etc. Predicting from this early is like The Amazing Kreskin bending spoons with his mind. Fun, but impossible.

Apparently there were some very severe magnetic storms wreaking havoc over the last couple of days. I thought they were supposed to be over by now today but maybe the after effects linger for a while, who knows? :dunno:
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Lol. I almost choked on a hamburger when I read his comment.
FTR I do agree with him, but it’s just weird timing for that take considering how well Jones has played as of late.

Nah, you're just not paying attention. You have concluded that me saying that the Leafs will win the division is some blanket statement about them being the greatest thing in the world. when all along what I keep saying is that the Leafs will win the division because the division is really mediocre (despite Florida's current run). It isn't rocket science. If you are the valedictorian of summer school, you're still the valedictorian. The Leafs are the valedictorian of the Atlantic division.
……. And we’re back to reality.

How are they the valedictorians of the Atlantic division when they’ve never won it? Lol.

I actually like how they are running with Jones are far as he can take them. Though I thought Hildebeast might start tonight, let him sit again and watch. Protect him.

Sadly I think they are pushing to bring Samsonov back, sooner more then later. Just the way it is these days....

All true, but isn't it about time you gave Jones some credit? I don't give a shit about last year, or the five before that, I only care what he is doing right now and at the moment he has provided the team with solid goaltending and he deserves credit for that. Who knows why he is playing so well, or how long it is going to last, but give the man his due for what he is doing right now. Were it not for him, this season would be over already.

I don't think so. Even if he comes back Jones has the net (currently has the 2nd best GAA and save% in the league). When Woll comes back, they will probably split the net. I think Sammy is done.

Unfortunately you can't just remove Samsonov's shit play, if you could this team would be at the top of the Atlantic easily, probably at the top of the east andem league.

I have no problem knowing that he's cost them AT LEAST 10 points

Keeping good players is generally a good idea.
I’d say he cost like 5 points. But don’t listen to me I’m pretty drunk. And I totally made that number up. Anyways I’m gonna have another drinking poo. Go leafs go bud.

generally. unless it comes at a detriment of being able to keep more good players...

But it doesn't because the Leafs have 36 million coming off the books after this season and anothe 25+ million coming off the books after next season.

Treliving is working with a damn near clean slate.

even coloradi had huge issues in net with Georgiev

It does.

And when you here shit like "didn't start on time" "we need a goalie who can steal us a game or two in the playoffs" "random cheap defenseman is f***ing useless! Get him off the team" "we are getting goalied again!" "can someone please explain to me why insert random bottom 6 is even on the team?!"

Oh and my new prediction? Willy, just went from HUGE value to HUGE overpay. With that comes pressure to perform and expectations. Both of which he will inevitably fail to live up to. And we will now get to enjoy the many threads of "trade Willy, he's not worth his contract" from this moment moving forward.

Willy has peaked. Anyone with a reasonable sense of hockey IQ can sniff this reality out. And even with him at his peak we haven't wont jack shit. So here we are. handcuffed and hog tied until 2035 as being the joke of the hockey league. The place where mid players can go to get overpaid and treated like superstars without having accomplished anything.

Welcome to Toronto.

A sound mind should keep Jones and Woll and let Sammy have an early offseason starting in JAN. However, unless all the Sammy's AHL training plans were lip service, I will not be surprised if the Leafs trade Jones for a 3rd round (there is no way he will clear the waiver now) after Sammy has shown signs of improvement.

I look at baby Crosby cup win and the only real difference between their team and ours is a goalie. Actually our current roster is deeper than theirs. Top heavy that went clutch at the right time (Malkin 36 points, Crosby 31.....Guerin comes in 3rd with 15 lol). They didn't have a Campbell or Samsonov in net and their depth played with their hearts on their sleeve.

Without an above average goalie in the playoffs we blow our odds drastically. Dubas should be in jail going with Campbell Campbell Samsonov.

Priority no.1 is goaltending.

Edit: I'm not saying we need to go full elite no.1 and i didn't say matthews marner have given crosby/malkin performances to date. Can smell the trolls coming. It's a build comment. Simply getting some good goaltending might be enough especially if the core puts up points.
