The reality is the team has one useable goalie.

Samsonov is a "goalie" that can't stop a beach ball, and Woll is out.

They are ONE bad bounce away from an AHL goalie being the #1.

They have limited cap space. Limited assets for trade and more important needs on defence. Jones can hold the fort until Woll returns. Unless another affordable option, better than Jones and Woll emerges.

Jones has been a pleasant surprise so far, looks like a perfectly decent #2. Woll was playing like a decent #1 before his injury, and will hopefully pick up where he left off.

Is goaltending a strength for us? No, and it’s definitely a bit uncertain/sketchy. But if Woll and Jones stay decently healthy (once Woll returns), and keep playing well, our goaltending could be good enough.

You can bring in as many D as you want if they can't get a save it doesn't matter.

He's not having a great year himself but his numbers are still MILES better than Samsonov.

As for how? Well you ask Minnesota what additional assets they would need to take Samsonov because Samsonov would need to be part of a deal.

Just because I was curious I checked. Jones was 57 in sv% out of the 64 goalies that played the most games last season. I thought that taking only the 35 game guys might have been unfair as there are 64 goalie jobs available. Didn't help him much...

It is idiotic because claiming that another player could get hurt isn't a valid comparison - there are replacements for the other players. The only replacement for Jones is a guy with 15 games experience, none of which were in the NHL, or a guy whose brain is broken. What part of that is so difficult to understand? They are literally one errant shot away from not having an NHL goalie. And what if they did have to go with Hildeby because Jones gets injured, who do they use as a backup then?
