I get that people have a short memory, but if you look back at stats jones was once a top 5-10 goalie for San Jose.

jones had a downfall partly/mostly in part of San Jose lack of ability to realize the window closed but kept gambling trying to do one more run

Once the wheels started falling off the 100 point sharks reams of old. 2019ish(1 year after the Karlsson trade)
His stats crashed

went from a broken sharks team to a crashing flyers team and struggled .he was decent for the kraken last season but a surprise contending team

I don't expect him to regain the form of old but once comfortable I wouldn't be shocked to see something in the middle

This is a seasoned nhl vet goalie. The same sort people want to trade for. I just can't see how you can judge by stats with out looking at the full story

Still sporting a career a 905 s% and 2.71 gaa after his bad stretch

And at this juncture why spend assets when chances you have a option. Woll will return probably after the turn of the new year.

Sammy might just get his head together ( definitely getting a pay cut) worst part is we know what he can do he was very good last season and in the bolts series.

In the end this is why we signed jones to the deal and structure it was

Jones has been very very strong no question but let's be real he's not the guy that puts my goalie concerns to rest.

I've always liked Jones and wish nothing but the best for him. I hope that 'best' happens in a Leafs jersey moving forward. He could be the perfect mentor type for Woll, and can hopefully provide solid backup goaltending, or even be part of a tandem for the rest of the season while Woll gains experience.

If things go well, maybe the Leafs can trade Samsonov at the deadline.
