Gibson has been awful for YEARS at this point (hasn't had a good season since 2019) and he's got a 6.4 mil caphit for THREE more seasons. Will never understand why anyone is interested in that.

Leafs will likely just keep rolling with what they have and bank on Samsonov eventually figuring things out. If they were to make a move, I'd expect it would be more for a 1B type to safely eat up a few games to give Woll some breathing room, but don't think that's going to happen

and anaheim had been the worst defensive team last 5 year....

i giving you 1 exempke. . game vs ottawa where leafs lost 6-3 and was just totally trash, sorry that game was not Woll fault but the team played just sonpoorly than we saw that result...

sv % of game kust with this game drop from 0.923 to 0.916. Just add like 2 game where your team playing the same exact way. your droping from 0,923 to 0.902 and thats exactly whats happening.. so if youre just focussing on stats and do t watch anything, you do t get any picture of whats really happened

Nothing? Yet emphasizing A goalie didn't win games rather than mention the ones he did is not creating one's own narrative?
A poster bashed Samsonov based on his performance last playoffs. I simply pointed out that Samsonov was the only goalie we've had in the cap era to have a dominant performance in a series-clinching game. A different poster claimed that Andersen had also done that. I showed that he didn't.

Then you came along, started creating your own narratives, putting words in my mouth, and blaming me for talking about the topic of discussion instead of talking about things we weren't talking about.

Our goaltending is unknowable because Woll could get hot by gm 82. SAMsonov is untradeable until TD because he is a bad backup at $3.5 million. We can't just go out and get a number one goalie. Our model isn't based on even paying a SAMsonov that much.So he beat TB? He didn't do much against Florida and has a lousy 5 and 9 playoff record. He had one good year got his payday and checked out. No one will pay him that next year. The Leafs should have walked away from arbitration. Paying this guy crippled them. He isn't even a decent NHL goalie but bottom 20 percent. You won't get far with those even if you find a top 2 dman.

tampa playing really poorly defensivly this season and even Vasilevskiy (whos the best actual goalie in the world) was unable to look good. Was the same thing with Price with Montreal. 1 goalie cant replace the entire team defensivly.

His team hasn't done him any favors, but he hasn't looked great either (admittedly I don't watch the Ducks a ton).

If he doesn't return to form he becomes a boat anchor of a contract, immediately. He'd be the 6th highest caphit on the team.

The risk seems to outweigh the reward fairly substantially in this situation imo

For those worried that Woll is a rookie and will melt under the pressure in the playoffs.

Rookies that win a cup

Bennington
Matt Murray
Cam Ward
Patrick Roy
Ken Dryden

Ya. We need to find a starting goalie for free who never gets injured. I've been mulling over this situation for a while now, but THIS is the only resolution...

Yeah, comes with a .930 svp, 17 wins and doesn't currently have a spot or use on any other team. Not sure why Tre is having difficulties finding that guy.

I agree with the notion that the goaltending needs to be addressed

Just a suggestion but how about

Putin
Vladdy
Prospekt Criskovitzky 135 Rm. 213
Mockpa, Russian Federation
65790031

And no return postage or address

depend what your definition of great

if youre expecting a #1 goalie finishing around 0.915 to 0.920 with team unable to defend... probably your expectation are irrealist

like i said before when i gave an exemple with ottawa game where leafs lost 6-3 because they was just trash. Woll was good overal and we cant blame Woll but the team in front was judt so trash than he cant do more... just with that game % of Woll drop from 0,923 to 0.916... we talked about 7% of game Woll played , imagine when those kind of happening like 4X more. Can you just just believe than both goalie would just be close to have same kind of stats?

Both the team and Woll were bad in that game. Kind of like how both Anaheim and Gibson are bad.

Im not challenging the idea that goalie stats are impacted by the team in front of them, but that as a general rule doesn't mean we would be guaranteed that Gibson will play well here. Gibson's uneven AND the Ducks skaters are likely contributing to the state of that team more so than one or the other

He currently has the 4th highest goalie aav in the entire league.

personnally i dont care about avv and i dont even an 1 % of doubt than Gibson would be with a 0,914% + every year in a team like Toronto. i prefer a constancy in front of the net than a mistery boxes you never know what you will get year after year.

but you can see it the way you want

I've always had the same mindset and wanted Gibber for years. At this point though I think the time has passed. He's wallowed in Cali for quite a while now and the math presents too big a risk - we don't have the assets anymore to protect the downside.

Should have grabbed him after Andy was run out of town. I'd still cheer him on big time if it happened, but it won't so there's that. And his agent is a fool.

i just think anaheim never had any interest to trade Gibson so unstead Gibdon asking for a trade, i dont think a trade wjll happen

I'd like to see Woll make at least a few dozen more starts before I'm even close to confident he's capable of carrying this team on a deep run.

Remember, he's only made an appearance in or started 30 NHL games so far in his brief career (26 Reg/4 Playoffs). While he's looked good overall, seems composed, confident and technically solid, it's a lot to put on him considering the insane amount of pressure this team is going to face again in April.

How can he be number 1 when he's probably going to play less than 40 games?

If Woll wants to prove he's the guy he needs to stay healthy.

Nope 24th, 25th and 26th that's it.

I don't care how many games he plays just so long as he plays well in the ones that count

Plenty of time for him to come back and retake the starters job

You do understand that we are very low on assets to make very few trades and you want to upgrade in goal ( which to me we dont have to ) .
Then we have nothing left for defense , which will fix alot of our goaltending issues less shot on goal.
I am not trading Woll Knies Cowen Minten or Grebyonkin 5 quality players on ELC contracts.

So we have a 1st this yr no 2nd rd pk
Next yr no 1st or 2nd
