leafs rusty brass dont know that they need to upgrade the defense
Im a fan of the Klingberg signing, i'm hoping we can get the Klingberg that was in Dallas and not Klingberg in Anaheim.

I wish we never did trade Sandin for pretty much nothing. He caught fire after he left washington and I think we just needed to be more patient with him.

Forget the studs because they are unavailable or will cost too much to pry from their teams.

Just want a heavy, rugged SOB on the blue line.

Zadorov?

Is he better than anyone on our team? I am not sure he is.

I'm not a fan of letting Nylander walk for nothing, especially if we do an early exit. I'm sure Traveling is looking around. What about that kid on Detroit? Seider. A move like that gives us cap space too.

A first round pick is nothing?

He certainly was put into a primary offensive position with Washington, and put up some points for them. I've always liked him, and wish his continued success. But, he was a -7 in 19 games with them. He put up points, but was terrible defensively for them. I'm not sure that catching fire. The problem with Sandin was a combination of below average skating, and small size. He's always had an offensive flair, but his deficiencies were there. At this point, neither his size, nor his skating ability appear to be getting any better... as much as I liked him, moving on from him was the right move.

Detroit laughs and hangs up the phone, then blocks your number. It's just not even close.

Detroit ain’t trading Seider. Just like we ain’t trading Matthews or Marner.

Name the last time the Leafs traded away a top 6/4 player*. That's because they don't.
(* Not counting Kadri due to the circumstances under which he was moved, and technically he was a 3C at the time)

This organization loves its stars. They sell jerseys for one thing so no, Nylander won't get traded unless he asks for one, even if it means him walking as a UFA. And in either scenario MLSE would instruct Shanny to instruct Treliving to do whatever it takes to get him to reconsider.

So if we're hunting for a stud D, start with Knies, any first rounders and maybe a Brodie? Of course all of that doesn't get you a stud so we're back to square one. No stud for us.

I don't think they are looking to move anyone but if they were to trade for a top D they would have to move a top player to make the cap work.

Seider has potential but people are acting like he is a bonafide superstar already. He isn't. I would argue Cam York has so far looked better. Detroit would be idiotic not to consider Nylander in that trade. This is especially true if they aim for a run at the playoffs anytime soon.

Marner has NMC. As far as I'm concerned we ain't paying Nylander what he wants, something will give even if it's by TD. Keeping goals out is just as important as scoring them. By TD someone will realize they need offense and we could sign Kane to help fill the offensive gap but I get it, the timing isn't there yet.

I know it's been said a few times but I honestly think I would probably trade Mitch before Willie.
It's nothing really against either it's just that I have seen more from Willie in the playoffs where Mitch just seems to fade out of existence.
It sucks because dude is so talented and it would likely come back to bite us but between the two I'd rather have Willie.
I think Mitch would fetch a MUCH better return as well.

Ok Gustaffson who did sweet fxxk all in the playoffs and a late first and Easton Cowan which I guess we'll see what he does in 1-2 years but I do recall a lot of Leafs fans yelling "WHO!!???"in the draft. So we'll see but right now we'll stick with Nothing as I've seen our drafting and we're not exactly setting the world on fire with our drafting lately. Hoping Cowan proves me wrong.

I’d rather see Nylander at 9 than Marner at likely 12.5-13. Nylander doesn’t disappear in the playoffs and he’s cheaper. Spreading the team too thin because they’re top heavy with offensive, soft forwards doesn’t work. They need to move one of them for a top D

Resign Willie, move Marner and use the 4m in the difference to fill depth. I think Domi and Bertuzzi will be huge for this team. They desperately need grit in the top 6 more than anything.

Go start a poll and ask if fans would trade a ham sandwich for Auston Matthews. Somehow Matthews would lose. Leafs don't win polls on HF.
There are only a select few players you can take over Matthews or be comfortable taming over matthews (min 3 max like 8 if your higher on a few guys)

Marner isnt at quite the same level and his position unfortunately gets valued lower in the league

Seider as a d-man gets huge boom i value being a 40-50 pt 21 year old 1D on DRW. He is their franchise player atamore valuable position than marners

If marner was a center he would be > Seider

Yes, we are all well aware that Mitch has an NMC, as do Matty and JT.

Which does not mean that we shouldn't pay Willy $9-9.5, or that we should trade one of our three best players (and the one who was probably our best playoff performer along with Rielly) just for the sake of a theoretical 'stud D' or a reclamation project.

We need scoring also. Some of the playoff games we couldn’t get the tying goal or go ahead goal for huge stretches.

Nylander doesn’t get bullied if the puck.
I’m still on the we should trade Marner for some better D pieces and just a heavier forward.

It’ll hurt our regular season performance. Without Marner we barely squeak into the playoffs. But the guy loses the puck constantly in playoffs.

Let’s see what Treliving has in his sleeve. We are definitely tougher to play against this year
the offense goes thru MM more then anyone and its not close.

When you can't score more, let less in. That whole top 4 model has been debunked. It never worked. We need balance or we win zip. TB will be back refreshed and hungry again and we are looking at another early exit and Nylander walking for squat.

How do we move things around to trade for Tyler Myers that isn't long term crazy? There's nothing realistic right?
