Not trying to hate, just sticking to facts that have me worried about round 1 and past round 1 problems. The only thing making us a grittier team is Schenn. But then we also lost our best crease guy in Muzzin.

Jake McCabe has 145 hits this season and weighs at least 20 pounds more than Sandin. That can't be factored out.

The 11-7 lineup was a joke to begin with. The fact that it is still a thing just goes to show how inept Keefe is.

The fact that Marner is getting run into the ground with this ridiculous ice time leading up to the playoffs just makes it more ridiculous.

I sincerely hope we do some damage in the playoffs. The team is due and the fans deserve it.

That said, it won't be because of Keefe's coaching, roster management and player deployment. He's such a fraud with his regular season record with this roster. Most coaches would post a similar record with this team. 24 NHL points. 0 playoff points (6 games played) and he's supposed to lead us to success? I don't see it.

Can't wait till this fraud of a coach is fired. Any competent GM won't hire this guy when he gets canned here. They'll see through the regular season record.

get marlies guys up here to play. 11F and 7D crap needs to stop. You also get to watch marlies guys and get them some games in case of injuries to the forwards in the playoffs

Marner was sitting in the box for 4 mins tonight because of 2 penalties he took; otherwise he could have had more than 24 mins.

you need players to have something left in teh tank for hte playoffs. Playoffs are intense and players can fatigue both physically and mentally in a jiffy especially teh Leafs with a lot of mental baggage already

I thought that was well played tune up game by the Leafs generally and the last minute hooking on Giordano was ticky tacky as hell. There's no way Boston or Tampa would get that call against them.

I can virtually guarantee, barring an injury, that Liljegren will not start Game 1. Two reasons….he’s looked like crap the past 10 games and Keefe really likes what Holl offers the team. I really wish Liljegren would have made the decision more difficult, but it ain’t gonna happen.

I mostly agree. It was a hook though. But you are right, no way it’s called on Boston or Tampa

Lilly and Holl aren't even fighting for the same spot. Holl is playing.
Lilly is fighting with Schenn, and based on today's ice time at least when defending a 1 goal lead, Lilly is ahead.

And Tavares makes him worse. Marner works a lot better with Tavares.

Matthews played not his best, so they gave him Marner to get him going. And then Tavares got Marner to get Tavares going. In that same timeframe Nylander been with a third line or Tavares. Not one game with Matthews.

Keefe should put Matthews and Nylander together. If Nylander still suck make him a 3rd line. But please keefe try the common sense stuff first. We need all lines to work.

Tavares is 29th overall in terms of scoring with top 5 cap hit in the league

then look at ppg overall in terms of scoring (at least 50 games played) tavares is 30th overall

then look at even strength production
tavares is not even in the top 50 skaters league wide (75th overall) with a top 5 cap hit in the league

He is living on PP production where elite players have set him up or finished the chances.

To me that is scary; especially with how Leafs PP goes in the playoffs

Drop off in skill and IQ for an extra 20 pounds and 0.2 more hits per game though? McCabe isn't even that much of a crease bruiser to even care about that extra 20. He better be saving a mean streak for the playoffs. I'll give credit where it's due if that occurs.

It won’t be any 3v3 in the playoffs.

JT does concern me without the puck. I would hide JT on the 3rd line with Lafferty and Bunting and let ROR runs a shutdown line with MM and Kerfoot. Bc JT’s defense is really just okay.
 
Dumb decision by Dubas to keep a coach who keeps making the same mistakes over and over again and allowing the same old players on the team to make the same mistakes over and over again without adjustments. Short playoff incoming, as usual. Big waste of talent and opportunity, year after year.

Lafferty and bunting same line even strength would be like 1 hdcf and 10 hdca. Why would we do that to Tavares?

Tavares-Nylander are going to be fine and Keefe will most likely give them O'Reilly too

is good enough to win a cup.

Every other player on the team is useless to talk about and swappable with other depth in the league. Top 6 plays well, the cup is ours.
 
I sure hope that O’Reilly is the second coming Wayne Gretzky because it seems like we have put all our eggs in the basket of O’Reilly

You want to believe sentences like this are trolling but it's literally true. These 2 on the same line in the playoffs would be like playing for Bedard, not the Cup.

What makes that even more sad is these are supposed to be 2 of our grittiest guys heading into the playoffs. You'd hope 2 of your grittiest guys would create an opposing force. Instead they would combine to be one of the easiest lines to play against 5v5
