This. All of a sudden FLA has their rested best players playing JT/Nylander? What the? Why wasn't Marner/Matthews back out there? Keefe over thinks these things. To be outcoached by someone as mediocre as Paul Maurice. Holy God.

Offensive zone faceoff. Coaches are creatures of habit.

And to be honest the plan went perfectly up until willy decided to dangle 1 on 2 and create chaos. Put our best faceoff winning Center in the offensive zone and gain possession. It’s pretty simple.

I guess one switch they could make moving forward is JT comes off immediately after the faceoff is won.

Keefe would never go gangsta on all of our players like maurice. Gangstafying it like that and yelling and roaring to ererrbody makes the f***in difference. Maurice won it to em tonight

Depends on how he produces.

He’s actually having the best productive season with the Leafs since his first year.

But the flaws in his game are becoming more noticeable. Tells me that if he’s utilized properly, he can still be effective and produce. 3 on 3 OT is bad utilization.

Tavares is 29th overall in terms of scoring with top 5 cap hit in the league

then look at ppg overall in terms of scoring (at least 50 games played) tavares is 30th overall

then look at even strength production
tavares is not even in the top 50 skaters league wide (75th overall) with a top 5 cap hit in the league

He is living on PP production where elite players have set him up or finished the chances.

To me that is scary; especially with how Leafs PP goes in the playoffs

Why doesn't someone explain to players that once they get possession of the puck in 3v3 OT, they don't have to immediately try and force a scoring chance when the opposition is in a strong defending position?

The Leafs really should create a position for someone that can instruct the players on game tactics and strategies.

McCabe doesn't add much more physically than what Sandin was already doing. I think people like to selectively ignore Sandin had 113 hits in 52 games as a Leaf.

Not trying to hate, just sticking to facts that have me worried about round 1 and past round 1 problems. The only thing making us a grittier team is Schenn. But then we also lost our best crease guy in Muzzin.

Their goalie was extremely lucky tonight. Play this guy tomorrow and he gets smoked.

Keefe has to go with the best six d(right now that doesn’t include Liljegren) and prepare them for the playoffs.

Matthews looks great out there, best thing about this game. He’s heating up for the playoffs.

not a lot of games left till the playoffs and the coach is still trying to experiment instead of forging chemistry. he is also forcing tavares-nylander together 5 on 5 which just doesn't work

Yup. Leafs were really good tonight. Deserved a win but for 7 years now, this group still makes fatal mistakes at bad times that real contenders don't. Just think how good they could be if they quit being so effing fancy all the time. Again, looks like a 1st round exit.

In the Liljegren thread I posted the mins of the D. Schenn was more or less benched in the 3rd and Lilly played 3:48 in the third. Even in a one goal lead at least just based on today's game, Keefe trusts Lilly over Schenn.
