Hope you are right!

Based on the core playing well and the rest of the team not, and no indication things will change leads me to feel it's going to be a battle for a wild card spot as well.

5-4-2 is not a good start to the season. We're going to need about what, a .560 win percentage to make the playoffs?
 
From a quick look none of the top 6 played over 20 minutes.

With the 4th.line being complete garbage Keefe couldn't have put Tavares out for a couple of extra shifts?

Maybe it is an union thing?

He was hired a month before UFA and was in talks for weeks prior to that where he had time to think about his ideas for the team.
 
I know I keep beating the same drum, but I think the Reaves signing was the biggest mistake... would solve a lot of problems if he was not on the team.

Kampf could play 4C, Nylander could continue his tryout at 3C, and our depth scoring is solved.

When Dubas was let go all we heard about from many posters was that Shanahan had essentially taken away Dubas's ability to make certain moves.

Then we hear Shanahan say he told the core that none of them would be moved.

Shouldn't most of this anger we're seeing now be directed at Shanny considering he's the one pulling all the strings according to some?

Ritchie got 33 games. Lets see how long the rope is for Reaves.

This was the first game where I think the distribution of ice time was more appropriate. They can't keep playing Matthews and Marner near 25 minutes each game.

Ritchie was more effective, but ya, I am fine waiting and seeing how this goes... just going off early results... It is frustrating to have Kampf as 3C but he and Reaves together are so bad so far that you can't have him as 4C.
 
This whole anti-Dubas thing is absurd. He did some good things here and while the Leafs failed in the playoffs, it was by no means the worst era in Leafs history.

Why wouldn't people compare this team to Dubas' team? For years it was debated on whether Lou would have been better to keep and their teams were compared.

If you feel like Dubas ruined the organization. Fine. Speak your piece and explain why.

Why bother chirping someone who doesn't share the same opinion.

Fire Keefe.

Brad built a shitty team with no 3c and useless plugs like bertuzzi. Keefe is a horrendous coach with lacklustre systems.

Things need to change quick.

Reaves should be compared to guys like Simmer and Clifford.

Bertuzzi on the other hand is a good person to think about in Ritchie terms.

Yeah probably. I don’t have to like the guy who agreed to Shanny’s “vision” and is doing a pretty shit job re-arranging the deck chairs either.

The puzzling thing is being willing to be remembered as the guy that presided over the window closing just to get MLSE money when your dad is a billionaire. You’re one panic-signing away from being the butt of the joke for a decade+ like Nonis or Burke.

Let’s see Holl has been a +54 since the 2019-20 season with the Leafs, a plus player every single season including this one. Klingberg on the other hand has been a -84! Since the 2019-20 season, a few of which he only played 50+ games, an overwhelmingly negative player every season other than on the powerplay. So despite Keefe using him that way he doesn’t even come close to the disaster that Klingberg is on defense.

That’s a difference of +138 in 4 seasons worth of games. Wtf?!

Bertuzzi was the most expensive LW on the market, how would more money help make him not shit? Kampf is one of the most expensive 4th liners in the league, how would more money help? Reaves is probably one of the most expensive bottom 6 players per minute he actually plays. Klingberg is one of the most expensive #4/5s in the league.

Now's the time to send Benoit down and call up a forward, so Reaves can at least sit. Or go 11-7. At least give Keefe someone else to try to spark the bottom 6.
