Klingberg looks bad because he played 25 minutes. Absent the injuries he wouldn't be anywhere near that amount of time.

Marner and Matthews are heating up again, so that bodes well going forward. Whether the team can get production out of the bottom two lines is a different issue.

You can tell Bertuzzi is more of a dump and chase/crash player. The reason why he hasn’t clicked here is because of our playing style and the fact that no one else plays that style.

Our problem is we expect whoever is on the left wing to Matthews and Marner to be a dog out there and retrieve pucks for the top guns meanwhile it should be all 3 of the forwards on that line that are hungry and chase after the puck.

Bertuzzi fit like a glove in Boston because they all play hard and forecheck. There’s no you be the dog of this line and try to retrieve pucks for Marchand. Marchand is trying to retrieve the puck himself already.

That's on Brad.
Coach and GM need to be aligned on how they want to the team to play and its on the GM if they aren't.

A majority of their takeaways are in the defensive end/center ice. You rarely see the puck dumped down and Marner going hard in the corner and retrieving the puck.

I see that often, he has led the league over the last 3 years... he just does stick work, same with Matthews, Nylander is up there as well, but Marner is #1 and Matthews is #3 (he would be 2 if he didn't miss time 2 behind Drai and 16 less games).

I've been a fan my whole life. At nearly 40 years old, this is the first season that I've voluntarily skipped watching games. Even during some really dark years, I made a point to watch. There's something rotten with this group that has me feeling jaded.
Yep, as soon as I get a whiff of the game going south it's movie time for the Mrs and me. We watched Saw 3D tonight after Buffalo went up 3-1. No regerts.

Anyone that supports Dubas is just as much as a moron then. Dubas spent how much on Marner Nylander Tavares and a couple others on "the core" a lot more than 14 mill. Hey lets not forget the 1st's he traded away to get rid of contracts. and trading 1st for a broken down Foligno.
Keep in mind that if we make playoffs and lose first round it’s the exact same success rate dubas had in all the years he was with us .

We can’t get much worse then the years dubas wasted running our team unless we become a team that can’t make the playoffs!!!

Moves this year havent been great
Defence is horrid and we still don’t have a legit starting goalie
Conversations we have been having for almost 2 decades from the Dion years

How shanahan and keefe still have their jobs is what gets me but…

On to the next game!

Matthews has a lot of offensive puck recoveries, Marner less so, but theyre still there. Hes just not going to beat a D and go in heavy

If there is any silver lining, Matthews has looked streaky and not as good as he could be and is still at a goal per game.

Tavares is over PPG.

Nylander is very consistent right now and is well over a PPG.

And now Marner is over a PPG and has not been playing to his standards.

We have some positives so far in the season, and at least the big guns have won us a few games or kept us in some, we need more from the bottom half and better D coverage.

It is of course very early in the Treveling era, but as it stands today Leafs are looking worse than the last 7 years, they may not even make the playoffs unless there’s serious re-tooling, particularly on the back end. BUT it might be a blessing as it may finally mean we re-build with the DNA required to win something.

Leafs make it 2-2

Keefe puts out Reaves line (worst line in hockey) boom 3-2 buffalo.

Fire this f***ing moron
Maybe he is making a power play to have Tre replaced, considering himself invincible having survived the last replacement.

LMAO Leafs twitter is pissed apparently. Babcock is trending on my screen

your right Engvall/Kerfoot/Bunting had a total of 11 points after 11 games Domi/Knies/Bertuzzi have 11 aswell. Jarnkrok/Kampf are pretty much still here. Giordano was in our top 4 at this point last year, and we were using Mete and Kral in our top 6 at this point last season.
You know what, I clearly don't drink as much kool aid as some of the guys here. Yes you know what champ? The Leafs look absolutely fantastic, they are as strong a team as I've ever seen.

Klingberg's f*** ups are not mistakes, rather happy little accidents. Reaves is an absolute manimal and strikes fear into his opponents to the point where they can barely hold their sticks due to their hands shaking. Domi is an absolute mirror image of his old man and he's just had bad puck luck. Bertuzzi is a machine who puts up great point totals while playing a physical brand of hockey.

Serious question, if Treliving inherited a depleted futures pool, what did Dubas inherit? Treliving has a bunch of NHL ready prospects.

F: Robertson, Holmberg, McMann, Knies, Abruzzesse, and Steeves could all play this year.
D: likely only Rifai and Timmins, but we had 5 NHL D signed.
G: Woll

Then in the pipeline there is Cowan, Minten, Niemela as top end guys and a bunch of other guys who are so-so...

Dubas actually inherited a terrible pool.

Matter of opinion I suppose, but barring Woll and Knies, I see a pool full of fringe nhlers that are unlikely to make a significant impact. Personally, I'm not even that high on Knies long-term, but there's at least genuine promise there given his size/skill combo.

Minten and Cowan are question marks to some degree, although Minten looks like he'll be a NHLer in some capacity at least.

Not sure Keefe knows how to optimize these lines.

If Matthews, Marner or Nylander arent scoring... We are very mediocre.
The team looks pretty mediocre when those three are scoring. It’s just not a great start to the season. It’s still too early to panic though.

Theres some major obstacles with roster management right now. A depleted D means feeding minutes to lesser players and you cant roll out Kampf's line defensively with Reaves on it.
