Domi , Bert, Benoit, and McCabe. Build on these guys. The rest are a bunch of puss holes God dammit
What did you like about McCabe's game tonight? Was it the 2 stupid cross checking penalties to start the game (1 was incorrectly given to Knies) or was it the Bruins #3 goal where McCabe had no idea what to do on the PK, caught in no mans land at the side of the net which he allowed the seam pass and then didn't go out to the shooter and just kind of collapsed to the ice with his back to the puck in hopes the shot would hit him?

The current scientific theory is that man evolved from apes. After watching hockey for the last 10 seasons+ Brad Marchand is definitive proof that we actually evolved from rats. f*** that guy.

Let's see if the league slaps Marchand. He deliberately injures our players and no discipline.

So if it isn't realistic for 3 or 4 guys to produce enough to win every game, shouldn't we look at our stars or leaders to be paid less? That would give us more money to use with the supporting cast.

We would have to let Tavares walk and trade at least 1 or 2 of Marner, Matthews and Nylander though.
I do wish Tavares was never signed

That space should’ve been devoted to developing and retaining talent and building a little bit more patiently.

But in the here and now we have to deal with the consequences of the cap situation.

I just want us to bring in some more depth up front that can take a bit of pressure off the top guys so that we can afford for them to have an off night

resume of this game in 2 word

William Nylander... he was the game changer but not posutively

completly stupid risky soft play at the blue line, breakway and cost game winning goal.

3rd goal, he completly stop playing... HOW YOU CAN PLAY THAT WAY in a gane like that so important... it was the same exact nylander who had been on the ice for 56 % of tampa even strenght.

unstead of being 1-1, itd was 3-1 with basically a game over, story of the night

after boston 3rd goal, he should sit on the bench for the rest of the game... Leafs will never win anything until player still playing that way!!! its simple you cant win like that, just impossible
Second goal certainly, but the third was on the PK and as much the defence.

Bench him? Keefe found an even worse way to punish him - made him play with JT and Domi!

I'm just hoping this week has been a case of the team having a flu bug going around a a lot of the top guys aren't feeling well because they haven't been good at all.

Two 5-on-5 goals in the last 3 games. No regulation wins. This team NEEDS to outscore their opponents. Not a good 3 game stretch.
Except they won’t. They’ve proven that they can’t in the playoffs. Better learn to keep the puck out of their net because they’re stars disappear in tough series.

I can’t believe Domi and Bertuzzi fought but Reaves couldn’t even truck a guy and cause a melee.
Don't think it's possible for Reavo to get in a fight against Boston these days surprisingly.

He did have someone in a headlock until their helmet popped off during play which was interesting to see, ragdolled Geekie to the ice after he speedbagged Gregor, and made at least one nasty hit from behind but Bruins aren't quick to cause a melee when it's Reavo.

It will be more pronounced against the Cats.

We don't have the cap room for guys who can chip in offensively, don't wilt in the playoffs, and are fairly sound defensively though. That's the whole issue.

I wanted Duclair more than most fans I believe. I think he would have been a really good fit on the Matthews line, pushing Knies down the order.

But we also needed defense. Liljegren, Brodie, Giordano and Timmins are going to get absolutely bullied in the playoffs. We had to add some meat back there.

We also need a 2nd line centre, but again don't have the cap space.

We are paying Tavares and Brodie 16mil. 16. That's an absolute killer.

Our previous management team let so much of the surrounding cast go and not replace them. We were a shell of a team. Basically the core 4, Rielly, McCabe and Liljegren. That was about it.

How do you get this team to the point of finally being a legit contender, with 68% of the cap in those players (plus Brodie). All the while having the absolute bare minimum to trade with another team for help?

Nylander was playing some unserious all-star weekend hockey when a street fight was breaking out around him and his teammate Knies was getting hurt. That casual ice dance was so out of place. He should be embarrassed with his approach tonight.
According to NHL.com, Nylander wasn't on the ice when Knies was hurt.

Matthews, Marner, Liljegren, and Benoit.

Dude....this is the NHL. Winning the Cup isn't easy. The margin between winning and losing is razor thin. Injuries, getting the bounces and some breaks. The Leafs are very capable of winning it all this year. Right now I'd rank the east as 1. Florida followed by the Toronto. And Colorado winning it all. But anything can happen.

The sky is falling crowd just comes out after the losses. There are so many positive things to take from this team. First and foremost being the Core 4 that we are blessed to watch on a nightly basis. Matthews is historic. Even the TSN Overdrive crew and Wayne Simmonds were gushing over every aspect of #34's game. They are never out of any game. They win the close games and overtime. They are deadly with the goalie pulled and needing a goal to tie. The power play strikes fear in opponents. They won 5 in a row without the team's best D-man! Our best goalie is still returning from injury and getting back into form and sure tonight wasn't his best night, but overall there's positive signs.

The bottom line is that the Leafs are an elite team with a Core 4 that is envy of the league and they are in an environment thanks to Keefe, Shanny and Tre that they thrive in and they're happy to be here showing their talent for our entertainment all year long.

After every loss the Sky Is Falling crowd rears their head to act like doom is upon us.
You know what's entertaining? Winning a playoff series. This team has done that exactly once in the last 20 years. No one cares about regular season success. Go ask any Blues fan.

Duclair would’ve been a good add.

Buchnevich at 50% would be tremendous

Not many D seem available. Fewer still that we can acquire.

This team is almost in purgatory. There’s nearly no choice other than to double down and try to bolster where we can.

Brodie and Tavares can walk when their contracts are up. A little retool is what this team might need. But then we also need to keep draft picks. At least at the top end.

If this season ends in another disappointment then I’m really curious as to the direction Treliving points us in

you see it with so many gritty guys the leafs bring in. They grind and care until they look around and notice that they are the only ones. Why go to the front lines to battle when the key guys are in the back talking to the pretty ladies.

It is what it is.

Tired, emotional, likely some of them sick, and some worried about getting traded tmo.
