Sure, but the implication of the photo is that the core 4 are motivated purely by money, which I simply don't think is true in Tavares' case. He was going to get paid no matter where he went. He took less money than other teams offered to play here. As such, he is the only one of the four who gave the team any sort of "discount" for his services. That's just a fact and it has no relevance to his play on the ice.

I don’t really care if they’re all greedy. Just deliver when it matters and take steps towards winning a real championship and stop mucking around. Obvious JT is no longer capable of being a high impact player. But the other 3, they are just a disappointment.

Nylander was playing some unserious all-star weekend hockey when a street fight was breaking out around him and his teammate Knies was getting hurt. That casual ice dance was so out of place. He should be embarrassed with his approach tonight.

exactly i think you said the good word, he played like it was an all-stars game. The problem if he was also playing the same way in playoff last season ( at least in 1st round).

i can live with talented player who struggling to score come big game or playoff. but i got a little more difficulty when its start with lack of interest to work hard defensive side.

Both game vs boston was a great exemple of what playoff hockey looking like. be on some boring game where you dont have any space and need to work for every inches on the ice... and when you stop working or just dont understand whats happening in front of you you will pay the price and thats exactly whats happened. we talked about today but monday it was as bad...

monday game 1st goal, if he just put pressure on pastrnak when he lost the puck, it would be a 50/50 battle and maybe leafs bring back the puck and they certainly not allowing that goal... but he played it exactly like he was on pk.

game on pp goal nylander and nylander was pretty soft on pk to close the space and boston used it.

goal 3 and 4 it was liljegren who forgot to cover his man both time...

you CANT PLAY that way and hope you will be even close to win a cup one day.

I don’t get how no one in this group reached a Nathan Mackinnon moment and just said “it’s not good enough I haven’t done anything in this game” and then just matured into a championship caliber star player with a focus to win. Edmonton is so up and down in their quest but you don’t look at McDraisaitl if they’re serious competitors. Our guys just seem so easily satisfied and bored of the game, can’t be bothered. Follow up a successful stretch with an awful letdown. Get muscled out of a playoff series. They’re just weak.
MacKinnon first playoff game/series he showed he was ready to lead the team. His first series maybe at 19 years old I think has shown more than any one of the core for the Leafs.

None of us are happy with the outcome, but it was nice to see us get angry and be physical. Honestly the game was closer than it looked, a Nylander flop, the mistake 5-3, marner not burying that open cage.

Matthews was invisible, not a great few games for him but he’ll turn it around. It’ll be a good series against Boston.

Adding shitty slow D

But we have no depth scoring

NO DEPTH SCORING

We also can’t built a supporting cast of 15 guys who can do all of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly and Tavares jobs for them in all the situations where they’re going to no show.

The leafs were never in the game. Woll letting in garbage goals, and the core not showing up.
The sky is falling crowd never disappoints after a loss.
Missing some key players. Back to back nights. The night before the trade deadline. Not much to read into or be concerned about.

I remember that series. He looked like he was shot out of a gun. But then went on a multi year slump where it seemed like he might be a Taylor Hall kind of disappointment. But after a bunch of second round exits he had that press conference and just said “haven’t done jack shit in this league” and proceeded to win a cup.

We also have no primary scoring in games like these cause the core are terrified to get stuck in. So wth is the point
It would help take pressure off the core of our depth was filled with absolute ass

Kampf
Gregor
Reaves
McMann

Are all unproductive.

Tavares is a shell of his former self. I like Domi and Bertuzzi’s toughness but they can’t put drive anything

Knies isn’t ready for big duty

We don’t have the depth to chip in

Two 5-on-5 goals in the last 3 games. No regulation wins. This team NEEDS to outscore their opponents. Not a good 3 game stretch.

'We want Boston' my ass !!!

Nylander proving he's not worth his old contract never mind his new one !!!

This core just doesn't have an sort of compete in them whatsoever !!!

There is no point in acquiring sweet f*** all till the summer. NT clauses need to be waived on these overpriced core 5 Madonnas !!!

Shanahan needs to be fired !!!

Watch the stinking Habs lay a beating on these Maple Leaf Turds on Saturday night !!!

There are going to be situations where those guys are completely shut down because teams don’t need to worry about the rest of the group doing anything meaningful

Overall we just aren’t a contender. I can’t logically find a reason to suggest we are

I take issue with Tavares being represented here, tbh. Say what you will about his play on the ice, which admittedly hasn't been good this year, but the guy took less money to come and play here. Of the four, he's the only one who didn't milk the team for every possible cent at every possible opportunity.
He took max money. There was no phantom team offering $13 like was purported. That was BS leveraging.
