Agreed. I think that is what holds us back quite often.

This forward up high, d stretched out system doesn't work in the playoffs, especially against a team like Boston.

They really need to change their system at even strength, on the PP and on the PK. We play a far too complicated system. And it looks like Sheldon doesn't change it regardless of the personnel.

The players we now have are far more comfortable in a simple north/south system, but because we have Matthews, Marner and Nylander we have to play this wide cycle, puck possession, forward up high system.

It is another situation where the GM and coach are not pulling in the same direction.
There was a player to the left of him safe play pass the puck to him.
I was always taught when I played hockey when there is no player behind you don't try to get by someone pass the puck or dump it in.
Hockey 101

No backhand passes in the defensive zone.

I thought they were in pretty good shape until that late PP goal in the 2nd.
It was nice to see some push back.

I think the difference between the Leafs and the Bruins starts at the top.

Sweeney cares about winning, MLSE doesn’t.

To win the Stanley cup, you need cap discipline, Boston has it, the Leafs do not.

Yea, it was great seeing all the scrums as the 2 teams know they will most likely be facing each other..

No they were dominated for an entire game before last and the entire first period.

The Bruins lost in the 1st round last year after the most successful regular season of all time

I don't think Boston is in a very good cap situation. It's why they lost so many guys that they can't replace.

That’s hockey.

You can’t change the game. Puck Luck is always a factor in hockey. Other sports like Basketball don’t have that as a big factor.

It’s not relevant.

Boston has been a leading NHL team FOR DECADES.

Our seats are 2nd last row, playoff prices are for 2 seats, 4 games before HST.
Round 1 = 1704
Round 2 = 2304
Round 3 = 3224
Round 4 = 5000

Total with HST = $12.232

MLSE cares very much about winning.

your right they do but the other teams know this as well and basically know if they concentrate on just slowing them down the Leafs have no one else who can step up

also they have had good series over the years , it's the 11m bot they slapped a C on who does very little come playoff time
I agree, the strategy pins the hopes on Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander…..they are paid like they’re superstars, now they have to prove it . A. Can they? B. Do they even want to?

Well, with the addition of Edmundson, at the very least, we're going to make the Bruins eat some lumber along the way. I didn't mind the crosscheck by McCabe on Marchand, that rat had it coming. I liked Domi having his way with Marchand, as the snake tried to slither away. And you know that with Edmundson in front of the net, the Bruins will be cross-checked continually. As for winning using this type of physical response, it ain't gonna happen if the core 4 won't engage and only play on the perimeter.

That’s why they are proponents of the salary cap

Nylander looked engaged early, than that giveaway seemed to deflate him.

Funny this is, there are other players on this team that make that same move constantly. He fumbled the puck and it was unfortunate.

Still think they can beat Boston in a series, just need these guys to take it up a notch, if they can or want to is the question.

I’ve come to the realization the core 4 don’t have the heart to win in the playoffs. Give Tre credit, the guys he brought in, Domi and Bertuzzi, showed that heart in spades. But it won’t matter if Matthews and Nylander won’t play in the dirty areas. Matthews in particular showed little desire. Compare his effort with Pasternak.s, it was embarrassing.
They have yet to prove it, but they get one more chance.

the only one of our high price guys who hasn't played well in the playoffs is JT

so the question should be C. can they play well even to carry a largely mediocre team deep
