Well, with the addition of Edmundson, at the very least, we're going to make the Bruins eat some lumber along the way. I didn't mind the crosscheck by McCabe on Marchand, that rat had it coming. I liked Domi having his way with Marchand, as the snake tried to slither away. And you know that with Edmundson in front of the net, the Bruins will be cross-checked continually. As for winning using this type of physical response, it ain't gonna happen if the core 4 won't engage and only play on the perimeter.
That’s the issue. The depth players definitely did their jobs last night. McCabe, Bertuzzi, Domi, even Jarnkrok, etc got down and dirty. They fought, showed they won’t go down easy and be pushed around. JT also threw some hits so I won’t complain too much about him but Matthews, Marner and Nylander has to be the softest trio ever. It’s actually embarrassing.

No idea.
List all the businesses that make money and don't want to make even more.
Maybe the Leafs can play some games for the Saudi royal family and get in on dirty oil money ?

Absolute gold mine !

The whole NHL was sponsored by Huawei - another criminal enterprise.

Greedy owners really stoop low.

Sad times.

goal can be on pk or whatever thats not changing the fact the goal happrnned because he was soft. He would have leaned over and using an active stick like you should on pk, the pass never reaching geekie and this goal never happenn
As I said, "as much on the D".

Nylander looked engaged early, than that giveaway seemed to deflate him.

Funny this is, there are other players on this team that make that same move constantly. He fumbled the puck and it was unfortunate.

Still think they can beat Boston in a series, just need these guys to take it up a notch, if they can or want to is the question.

Nylander I bet was battling something. He had a bad game, couldn’t hold onto the puck, not engaged at all. Definitely didn’t seem 100%

Lets hope the Leafs don't meet Boston in the playoffs because it doesn't seem to matter how many tough players they surround our soft core 4 with the Big Bad Bruins still own the Leafs.

These last 2 recent games against the Bruins have emphasized that Leafs shortcomings are still a cause for concern.

Toronto hasn't beaten the Bruins since 2022. :(

This will go over like a lead ballon but..

I said last night this game was more about the war than the battle. Within that lens I'm not necessarily down on the team, despite the obvious loss. We pushed back, we gave as much as we got, don't take for granted how many times in past years we just rolled over and died. Not last night, and we have another bruiser coming. Keefe made note of it as well, he wanted to see the competing piece and was pleased in that regard, I was as well.

I actually think we can take these guys, nothing I saw the last two games makes me think they're unbeatable. We need to tidy up our end is the main takeaway for me.

Thoughts
Thank you Domi for showing up.
Thank you Bert for showing up
Thank you AM for showing up to aid Knies...opps not so much
Thank you McMann for accepting more face washes for the team than any one player should endure. At least give ìt back.
Thank you Lily for giving up the puck in every battle along the boards, so kind.
Thank you Morgan for trying to do so much you didn't play your position.
Hi Ryan, good job for preparing for spring break early.
Kampf? Why oh why are you here?

Just for Laughs went bankrupt, but someone on Leafs bench is really funny because Marchand was laughing
Brad,do not waste Cowan, Minten, or draft picks trying to shore up these guys. No wonder we seldom see Wendel, Sittler, Gilmore, Keon at the rink (on tv).
Mitchy scored because he was behind the D, which is where he must be to be effective. It scares the other team. Gretzky made a career out of it. You cannot play d, so please Keefe, let him play O.
And thank you refs for using playoff style that shows we cannot succeed. Cross checks to the back, after whistle hits allowed. Bettmans boys again. Reilly 5 games, Pospisil 3 games

That has nothing to do with them not wanting to win.

What did you like about McCabe's game tonight? Was it the 2 stupid cross checking penalties to start the game (1 was incorrectly given to Knies) or was it the Bruins #3 goal where McCabe had no idea what to do on the PK, caught in no mans land at the side of the net which he allowed the seam pass and then didn't go out to the shooter and just kind of collapsed to the ice with his back to the puck in hopes the shot would hit him?
Crosschecking Marchand in the face is a huge plus

I feel like, generally speaking, that's been the trend of this era .. particularly in recent years. The supporting cast has done well but the big guns just can't carry the team.

Sometimes I wish we just had a conventional good team with 2 superstars, an impact goalie and a blueline with normally allocated cap dollars and a lot of those traits of the ever changing supporting cast.

The all-star game clown show is fun and all for a lot of the season but what good are your Harlem Globetrotter ways when you just turn into the Washington Generals at seasons end.

It's called interest. He suffers from lacking interest

His dad had the same issue. Lots of talent. Shows flashes of brilliance then dissapears for some reason

He also reminds me a lot of Kovalev. Except Kovalev had balls

Im thinking dops is already scripting which leaf to suspend in round 1

Hah! If I were George Parros I would target Jake McCabe. Plausible “snap show” type personality, plus he plays D and is a critical part of the Leafs. But not so critical that he’s a star level player.

Lines 5v5 over the last month since the shakeup:

Knies/Matthews/Marner:
xGF%: 64.32
Goal Differential: 68.93

Bertuzzi/Domi/Nylander:
xGF%: 37.75
Goal Differential: 57.92

x/Taveras/McMann:
xGF%: 59.78
Goal Differential: 75.54

x/Kampf/x:
xGF%: 60.81
Goal Differential: 66.38

I can see why so many think the Leafs need another center as, despite playing the softest minutes of the bunch, our "2nd line" has gotten wrecked overall, masked by Bertuzzi finally putting some pucks in the net.

Nylander has been the most consistent playoff and big game performer for the Leafs. He may be disinterested in mid season nothing games, but he is the first one to show up when the games matter.

Short memory for some.

They might, but it is an easier recovery than those who get struck by lightning carrying those storm clouds.
Well when you’ve been watching this team for 60 years you tend to learn which teams have what it takes and which don’t. And the Leafs have the most talented core forward I’ve seen on this team but they are also the most timid and least competitive group I’ve seen on any team in the league and that will never change until they trade one of them and Tavares salary is off the books. Then they can build a deeper forward group and dcore that can actually compete for a cup. You call it storm clouds. I call it recognizing what hasn’t worked in the past acknowledging their obvious flaws and changing the formula.

What did you guys think of the Refs blowing those 2 similar penalty calls? Somehow give the Bruins a 5 on 3 to start the game getting the wrong player on the Leafs and then somehow only give them 4 minutes on an obvious 6-minute call?

All this after blowing 2 continuation plays in the last game.

....and you wonder why so many conspiracy theories get started lol.

News flash…….the ref’s DO NOT have it in for the Maple Leafs, calls get missed all the time for every team, focus on the real reasons this team didn’t win………

Marchand is such a pos. he just turtles anytime he is challenged. He is so infuriating.

The call on Knies to set up that 5-on-3 was so egregious. I think that ref will be promoted to call the SC finals. NHL loves incompetence. Such a bad mistake, I can’t believe a pro ref would make such a mistake.
