Leafs were brutal for the first 5 games or so last season then went on to set franchise records. See where we're at by the end of October and go from there. Need more out of Matthews and Marner.

- Malgin looked good with Willy.
- Brodie had a nice game.
- Engvall is just so good at clogging up lanes, glad he's healthy.
Negatives:
- The glove hand taketh away.
- Caufield might be the real deal.
- AM and MM looked real bad (kind of like the start of last year - not worried).
- Jake Muzzin does not look like an NHL calibre defenceman anymore. .
- The 4th line was much less competitive than I thought they'd be.

ZAR and NAK actually finished their checks, something not seen in these parts since God knows when. Agreed nobody impressed but I take that as Keefe constant blendering of the lines more than anything.

We can talk about goaltending all we want, but we won't win games like this:
Matthews, Tavares and Marner all were quiet as a mouse, and a team built this top heavy isn't going to compete most nights when 3/4 top guys are having a bad night.

Engvall? He's a depth player who is effective and plays a good 2 way game. He'll get 10+ goals easy. I'd wager he could get close to 20 goals this year.
Kerfoot on the other hand... yuck. He's so average at everything that it hurts. I still can't believe that he's what remains of Nazem Kadri. Gosh Kadri was everything that we have been desperate for these last few seasons. That will go down as one of the worst trades ever. courtnall for kordic territory.
