Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose in SO

I'll happily take the point on a game our Leafs were chasing all night.

Not happy with the goaltending at all! It seems Samsonov has come back down to earth and is showing us why the Caps gave up on him! A beach ball in slow motion would get by him it seems.

And why Sandin in the shootout??? Did Keefe decide to concede the game and the extra point???

Tavares line a no show, really poor defence for 2 periods and we didn't have the goaltending to bail us out.

lots to like about Matthews game this year but him continuing to whiff on pucks, bobble it, and fall down for no reason is really strange. He should have ended this one in OT.

Samsonov looked much more solid and in control earlier in the season when he was playing well. Lets hope our goalie coach can remind him of everything he was doing right when he was having success a month or two ago.

Murray can take it for a bit here. As long as he's healthy he should be pretty good. Other than back to backs of course.

Sammy needs to chill for a couple games. Wasn't good tonight. Neither were the Leafs though.

The way the D has been... the odd time a high scoring game is fun to see but I don't like how St Louis had a couple of those. Too easy.

The whole team needs to be a lot better next game on Thursday vs Seattle.

Curtis Sanford can really earn his pay here. Brier couldn't halt Campbell's crumble hopefully Sanford can for Samsanov.

Something is clearly wrong with Matthews, I never understand why it doesn't get more coverage. I'm not even talking about his shooting from distance anymore, he's whiffing on shots Kerfoot would make. It's good that he can work around it with his B game but he needs to get sorted out and get his hands back by the playoffs.

It looks like a core injury maybe, he looks ok shooting when he's set up but if he has to make any sort of awkward stretch or quick reaction to the puck he's whiffing.

Aside from the goaltending, i'm taking the positives. Coming back from 4 two goal defecits shows character and it was a team effort.

It's been all season. There has been speculation something is bothering him

I mean the SO is tough on goalies .. Samsonov did make two huge saves in OT so I hope that gives him a bit of confidence.

Unfortunately the Leafs have two back to backs for the 4 games after the Seattle game, so they can't just let Murray run with it.

Give Samsonov a shot against Philly .. and if it struggles again, there's a quick opportunity to give Woll a shot (he's been red hot with the Marlies).
