This whole media narrative of the Leafs should hold their heads high is just pissing me off right now.

Yea, it’s like an abusive relationship we all keep going back. I agree with you. I give 0 shits about anything but winning. Excuses aren’t acceptable at this point. I will continue to not spend any money on going to games, merch, etc, until they win a round.

While great that he was engaged, and his effort was honest, he is here to score, or create scoring chances. Nice pass on the 1 goal in game 7. Not enough.
..... it was a gorgeous pass - what did the other 11 million dollar guys do? Marner didn't even get a shot on net. Teams know Matthews is head and shoulders the best player on this team, it's the reason players are holding onto his jersey and skiing around the ice.

The only way that Jt, AM or MM get traded is if you can recieve equal value back. Which is hard to do considering there talent level. These three are great players and trading them away for assets is real risky because there is no guarentte how they will turn out, they could a busts. What I would do is bring in a proven no nosense coach that has won the Stanley Cup. The players will have to respect him because he has won it all. These star players have to stop being cuddled and forced to perform. There are tradable players on this team like Nylander and bring in a legit goaltender or really improve the defense so the goaltender won't have to carry a big burden. But a better system one that boxes out very well in front of net and an offensive system strongly geared at pushing the puck hard to the net instead of trying to set up the pretty goal would get this team over the hump.

I guarantee you that will not happen. They will defend him till the end. And if you lose your patience with them they will report your posts for harassments.

the team gave it their all. we're so proud. keep them together. run it back. etc.

i just don't get it. if that was their all and they couldn't even get past the 1st round then the team is flawed in a major way.

If you look at the top teams in the league, they do two things very well. They defend the front of thier net very good and they drive the puck hard to the net in the opposing zone. The Leafs don't do that well. They are constantly beat to the puck in front of their net and they don't drive the puck to the net in the opposing zone. The Leafs need a no nonsense coach who will instill discipline on this team. Make them play the right way. Box out in front of their net and stop with trying to set up the pretty types of goals. Drive hard to the net and take the puck to the net. Trotz would be good, I even think Tortorella would be good also. Both have won Stanley Cups. So the players would have to listen because they are proven winners. If the players get their feelings hurt, well then they don't belong on the team. If they won't play a discplined style game then trade they and bring in players that will no matter who they are.
There are people who grind it out for minimum wage every day of their lives and who regularly get their feelings “hurt”.

These players get paid enough that I’m sure they can survive a little bit of scrutiny and their feelings being hurt if it means they’ll have a better chance of hoisting the cup.

there's money in winning but for toronto there's more money in losing

no changes needed... move on folks

Cooper was a genius. He never let his team believe that that Leafs beat them, that they beat themselves
He constantly said in media, we gave it to them. They didn't out play us

There was belief in his tone, a sense of confidence

After losing his entire 3rd line, an integral 3rd line from last year. He still gets the best out of his players and the new 3rd line
He finds a hero in nobody.... Nick Paul tonight was that guy

Just look at Cooper's resume. Yes he jsut won cups recently, but he has had playoff success. He has learned and adapted.

Keefe on the other hand..... He played Holl to prove a point to f***ing Steve Simmons. There are so many other WTF decisions that he made. I mean even peewee coach wouldn't do that

the people wanting to run it back is just insanity. they take pride that the leafs gave it their all. what you're missing is that they've clearly showed that their all is far from enough to win anything, even the first round. that means there needs to be changes.
Hockey has changed alot.... but did anyone get so much as a scratch this series haha. Playoff hockey in the early 2000 was so much more entertaining and crazy. Players were absolute wrecking balls. That was laying it on the line. Now everyone is Alexei Yashin out there.

You trade Marner away not aiming for getting equal value back. You trade him because you free up 11 million in your cap and you can use that money to get a true #1 goalie and a depth defenseman. Can't trade JT because of the NMC.

Tampa Bay played almost two and a half seasons over the last two years. Approximately 40 more games than our Leafs. Vasi was very average all series. There IS shame in losing to Tampa Bay.

The Dubas fan boys would be erecting a statue to him right now if they won so it's time to admit boy wonder inherited a very good team and managed to succeed at only one thing: losing in the first round.

Dubas has got to go. Keefe has got to go as well. I'd LOVE to see how Keefe does with a less talented roster. He'd be a bottom-5 coach in the NHL. Just an incredibly inept coach.

Lol, so if JT would score 79 points this season rather than 76, you'd be fine with him.

Many assets in a business are qualified as depreciating assets yet are critical. I wager you're not an accountant.

If you're looking to focus your ire on a player, I recommend either looking at Kerfoot, who lost us game 6, or Simmonds who helped us lose game 2.

Listen, if we could swing JT for a #1 dman like Hedman, sure. But that ain't happening.
Lol. Let’s blame two of our lowest paid players while absolving an $11 million “superstar” of any blame. I am not blaming JT for this loss. I am saying that contract is going to f*** this team over for years. We haven’t done shit in the playoffs since he arrived, and he’s just going to keep slowing down. That is what I mean by a depreciating asset. It’s really not that hard to figure out.

I expect a hell of a lot more than a PPG from an $11 million player, but I guess I just have high expectations.

You don’t understand business or ROI. That much is obvious. He scored 48 goals his first season here, and in two years will be a $5 million player at best. His contract is virtually untradable, but I guess you are smarter than 31 GMs. The contract is an albatross. Period.

You can blame the refs and whatever else, but ultimately this team at its core was built to score. We've gone to the limit in 5 of 6 series and lost them all. Our regular season firepower should have translated to winning some of them with maybe a sweep or two.

This doesn't add up.

Codi Ceci so far has the game winner for the oilers to go into the second round.

It’s definitely salt in the wound territory

I was watching highlights of our series against the Isles in 2002 just randomly today, and boy, how dramatically different the hockey was back then. Wow. Nowadays doesn't even compare. That was big boy hockey.
