Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose in Game 7. Again.

I don’t think they fire Dubas or Keefe. I would bring them back. I think we will see a trade and I think it willl be Nylander to help with the salary cap allocation. Maybe they use it for better depth or goalie I don’t know but feel Nylander will be traded.

Why are people married to any of these guys? Core, coaching, management. I want someone who can win .
I think people want to win, not someone who necessarily has won. We've seen some rush decisions that have destroyed this team and many people see the talent and the level We've played at. I get not campaigning for change but I honestly don't care if they do

When they needed a save in game 6 OT last year, Campbell couldn't give them one.
When they needed a save in game 7 last year, Campbell couldn't give them one.
When they needed a save in game 6 OT this year, Campbell couldn't give them one.

He's a great guy. Lovable character. Easy to cheer for.

He also shouldn't be this team's starting goalie next year.

It's a bit unfortunate and a bit misleading at the same time. Leafs don't have a playoff problem, they have an elimination game problem.
Feels that way. Really a shame we didn't get to see them try and close out game 6 ES or even with the single penalty. A 5on3 is just criminal

Sucks like the rest of the 1st round exits but at least this one I don't feel bad about how they played.

The core showed up and battled. Soup gave us good enough goaltending to win.

Blowing up the core is a step backward. Tinkering around the edges and hopefully finding the right mix.

Guys like Kerfoot need to move out for a power forward who can play on the Tavares line and create space and finish. A Hyman type for JT and Willy would be a huge get.

Holl can be moved no need for him anymore.

Simmons, Clifford can move on or be 14th forwards.

Stings as usual but they threw everything at the 2x Cup champs

You give up the first goal in 3 straight games and this is what you get. Slow starts. Piss poor depth. Dumb as f*** Dman

They can do whatever they want with this f***ing team, I'm done

edit: and you really need to ask yourself why the f*** would Matthews want to resign in Toronto???

edit x 2: Now you understand why Matthews wasn't included on this list?

As a Leafs fan, not sure how upset I would be with that decision man. Dude is not a playoff performer, and was by far the worst of our core players tonight. He can score 80 in the regular season if he wants, but until he leads this team to a playoff win he's a chump.

Another great team - the Wild, also a victim of this format.

Yep - the Wild played the game the right way, 100% speed, skill, balls out. Active at the deadline. Probably the 2nd best team in the West. And they got to play probably the 3rd best, battle hardened team as a reward.

The Leafs were so much better in game 6 - if not for that brutal Cirelli goal and the b.s. 5 on 3 goal, the Leafs win. But they were an absolute no show in this game - especially Matthews. It's like they disappear in elimination games. Anti-Clutch.
Um 34 had an assist.

Note that tampas stars didn't score tonight either. Their depth did. Ours did early but not in the last few games.

Really not sure where the blame lies this year. Feels less obvious than previous years.
agree

winning is a fine line.

But you cant do the same thing every year with same results

there will be changes by default

Yep, my greatest fear is still that they decide to copy the '95 blueprint to "get over the hump"...

Good year guys. Unfortunate finish but at least we had the effort.

Great series by Matthews, Marner, and Rielly especially.

Couple tweaks in the offseason: Holl, Kerfoot, Mrazek, and Mikheyev out. A couple hardworking forwards, a tandem goalie for Jack, and a couple rookies in.

See you next year boys, I beleaf!
