Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose in Game 7. Again.

Goes to show how dumb the playoff format is. You finish fourth overall in league standings and you're rewarded with a first round date against the back to back champs who finished with 110 points while missing Kucherov for half the season. Using 1-8 seeding we would have played Boston and (maybe but maybe not because I actually think this team is cursed) beat them.
I hate the NHLs playoff format, as per the reasons you described. I'd much rather 1-8 seeding like back in the day, or if I was in charge I'd take it a step further and do 1-16 seeding with both conferences. Screw rivalries, they're meaningless with how often players changed teams.

So good players shouldn't be played if they are vets?

How the **** are the young players going to get better if they don't play?

But sure, let's sit them while we play a bunch of 35+ players who haven't won **** in there careers

Starting this season I didn't watch a single game all season. I used to watch every game I could and most certainly every playoff game. I've been a die hard Leafs fan since I was 7 years old and I'm 42 now. All they have done is let me down, time and time again.

Seeing the Leafs being eliminated again after not watching any games all year gives me a strange feeling. I'm no longer angry like I would normally be, I just feel "meh" about it and it's pretty liberating! I guarantee it's a better feeling than most of you guys have right now.

My new slogan is "wake me up when they reach round 2", because that will be the next time I watch a Leaf game. Maybe you guys should try it too.
Damn we smart :)

At the end of the day, this team has proven that they can't beat anyone in the playoffs. So why does this matter?

Another great team - the Wild, also a victim of this format.

This Leaf team is really good and good enough to win. I have no doubt about it. The management and coaching staff stay for me… all they have done is put togther an elite program.

If the management group determines one of Nylander and Tavares going makes sense for the team, then I trust that. But I am not forcing out either of them.

I feel like this is the point where Matthews, Marner and Rielly become our Ovie, Backstrom and Carlson. After that, no one is a lock.

But again, I’m fine with all coming back.
Holy Stockholm Syndrome, Batman!

Weird note. Generally the team with the most goals in a series wins (obviously). About every other year, throughout the whole playoffs, that isn't the case and the team with more goals loses.

We've been thatteam with more goals who lost the series 2 years in a row now.

I watched him, a lot. He doesn’t do all the necessary things that it takes to win a Stanley Cup. We’ve seen it against Boston, CBJ, Montreal and now Tampa.
He pulled up with less than 4 mins left in game 7 down a goal.
Fair enough man, I didn’t see a pull up tonite, I saw zone entries and a talented player controlling the puck in the offensive zone better than anybody else except for maybe Marner. He’s no scrapper or forechecker, you play elite offensive puckhandlers with fore checkers, but sure trade him and use that 7 million on Deslauriers and another useless tit, heck give Wayne train a raise, He’d never pull up, he’d never get there in time to be effective but hed show he cares!

Anyways lads. Thanks for a great season

You guys put up a bigger fight than the leafs. I applogize if i crossed the line

Hockey is not fun like it used to be. Just not fun. Not the hockey i remember
We will be back next season with some hilarious chirps and completely facetious commentary. Just a game at the end of the day, my friend. Let's go freebase some crack

Tell ya what...Tavares' play was inspirational at times. Credit where credit's due.

What separated Tampa and Toronto was their bottom six and their goalie. I think Campbell is a starter. He played great.

Our bottom six needs address. We've got some promise coming through the pipeline. Especially Kniess.

But the first player I make calls on moving is Kerfoot. Repeatedly did the opposite of what he should be doing.
How can you fix the bottom six with all that money tied up in the big 4

What else is he going to say? "Leafs are full of chokers. x2 Rocket winner is busy rocketing them off the driving range instead of in big pressure games". Lol.

exactly. you're kidding yourself if you think any team (or any person) respects the leafs. he's just saying the boilerplate you're supposed to say.

10 chances to win a series in 5 years. 0-10.

3 total goals scored in the last 4 Game 7s.

0 goals from Matthews in a Game 7. Ever.

Entered the 3rd period trailing in the last 4 final elimination games.

What good players? When are they good?
yep. It's UNACCEPTABLE. It's BULLSHIT. But the usual excuses here. I just can't take it.

It's a bit unfortunate and a bit misleading at the same time. Leafs don't have a playoff problem, they have an elimination game problem.

I didn't watch with the same attention as before, but I still watched and I couldn't NOT tune in. Maybe this coming season, I will watch even less games. I don't know. At least the Raptors have competent management that will make that team better, unlike the Leafs.

I would trade Nylander

He's too damn soft in the playoffs. He does not compete at all. So many plays where he tried to avoid getting hit.
