Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose in Game 7. Again.

Another loss, another lesson learned. The format of the team isn’t good enough to get it done when it matters most.

There’s going to be changes to the team, but more then likely not the ones needed for this team.

Campbell playoffs wasn’t good enough. 3.33GA and under 900 save percentage isn’t good enough, our core forwards raised there games and he didn’t. The one game he needed to be better then Vasy and he wasn’t.

Tell ya what...Tavares' play was inspirational at times. Credit where credit's due.

What separated Tampa and Toronto was their bottom six and their goalie. I think Campbell is a starter. He played great.

Our bottom six needs address. We've got some promise coming through the pipeline. Especially Kniess.

But the first player I make calls on moving is Kerfoot. Repeatedly did the opposite of what he should be doing.

We kept addressing it but you get what you get when you fill out your bottom 6 players with mostly minimum salary players. We can't afford better players because half of our cap is tied in this core. How people don't get that? Dubi has shuffled the bottom 6 every year almost. Same results.

Every year we have no toughness in playoffs... Tampa had marroon, foote and bogosian.. The soft boring taveres like game the leafs play hasnt worked for 4 years. Play Simmonds and clifford.. Kerfoot took a dumb penalty and still plays yet Simmonds does and he is out

Doesn’t always have to be blame. Sometimes its a tip of the cap to the back to back champs.

If the Leafs bring in Trotz, they will need to understand that Trotz is in charge and not the players. Trotz's very hard on discipline hockey and it doesn't matter who. Trotz will light Matthews, Marner Travares anyone who is not playing right and very hard every shift. Leafs players have been coudled like don't say anything negative that will hurt there feelings.

And I seriously doubt Dubas would hire Trotz for those exact reasons.

Dubas has a flawed strategy for building a Stanley Cup winner in a salary cap system.

Avs fan coming in peace. TML are an excellent team with outstanding, skilled players. They came up short but proved they were a worthy contender.

Goes to show how dumb the playoff format is. You finish fourth overall in league standings and you're rewarded with a first round date against the back to back champs who finished with 110 points while missing Kucherov for half the season. Using 1-8 seeding we would have played Boston and (maybe but maybe not because I actually think this team is cursed) beat them.

Boston just brought Carolina to seven games

Lets not forget that TB are 2 time defending champs. The team is an all world team. The Leafs did very well taking them to 7 games. Could have just as easily been a Leafs series win.

Let's see how Florida does against them.

The Leafs are the early 00's Sens, and every playoff opponent is the Maple Leafs.

That's BS. That Sens core went to game 7 of the east final in 03 and ultimately went to the cup finals in 07. I wish the Leafs have this kind of playoff success.

This was always the issue with this year being a 'must win' year. Against Tampa it really was going to be a coin flip. Not that it feels any better, they were just edged out by a better team.

Not really sure where to go from here.

The Leafs were so much better in game 6 - if not for that brutal Cirelli goal and the b.s. 5 on 3 goal, the Leafs win. But they were an absolute no show in this game - especially Matthews. It's like they disappear in elimination games. Anti-Clutch.

After their unbelievable performance in game one I figured this would happen... they gave us an experience like we haven't had in decades, sucked us right in.. then found a new way to break our hearts.. that's what they do!!
But I luv em... looking forward to whatever changes are made and I will be right there cheering and hopeful once again come October
