Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose Game 1: 4-2

Never really like to see a take it and run win against.

Shouldn't last but it can.

Gotta solve that enemy keeper.
 
That was just old fashion most physical team wins. Even when taking hits from us they made the play while taking it.
 
Bobrovsky was the first star of the game and he’s a big part their success. Leafs played well but didn’t score on prime chances. It happens.

Florida has some real studs and if they all keep playing they have for the past 4 games, I think they’ll win this series.
 
The first round win and celebration was amazing, what a week.

Tonight's a reminder that the job's not done and it's not an easy road.. the Leafs need to put a lot more work before we can get too ahead of ourselves. Some humility goes a long way.

Florida didn't really need to do anything fancy...Bob made the saves and the team feasted on Leaf breakdowns...Leafs shot themselves on the foot...2 goals should be enough to win a playoff game if Leafs just simplified their game and played sound defense like game 7 against Tampa, but no, some of the guys played like chickens without a head, especially McCabe, trying to hit everything and taking himself out of playing defense when there's no need to.

I wouldnt say it was effort. We made mistakes and they ended up in our net. They made more and they stayed out. It wasnt just Bob, but we controlled play, chances and fought for space. I thought we really struggled with their pinching D early, but it wasnt an issue in the second

Bob's strong play tonight and how this game went gives me vibes of how the Leafs' failed against Columbus and Montreal.

At the end of the day they need to be able to control the play, with pace, and avoid the defenses lapses that allow teams to win games like these.

They close out the second period tied 2-2, the Leafs don't lose that momentum and have a better shot at a win.

Samsonov played like shit again simple as that.

The ass kissers and excuse makers will come on here and say "he's not a Vezina goalie."

Or "it's the defense"

So let's address those right.

#1 I'm not asking for Vezina goalie caliber play.

I'm asking for what he did consistently in the regular season that's it.

#2 "it's the defense"

No it is very VERY f***ing not.

This is the 5th time in 7 games where he's allowed 3+ goals, It's not a defense problem when It's happens almost every night stop being an ass kisser.

I like Samsonov but he's playing like shit right now, and has been for a significant amount of time that's a fact.

"he's playing hurt"

Who cares so is EVERYBODY left in the playoffs.

It's time he gets his head out of his ass because right now he's a SLIGHTLY better Campbell in that Samsonov can at least say he didn't choke away a 3-1 series lead.

But regardless of that fact he's a slightly better Campbell right now.

And that's not good enough because I know he can be more because I've seen it.

Not sure where all these hot takes are coming from. Thought we outplayed them start to finish other than a 6 minute stretch at the end of the first period.

In many ways, I think we did to them what people were saying Florida was going to do to us. We established a good forecheck, we were physical with some big hits, and we forced a lot of turnovers at their blueline to regain possession. Also liked a lot of the quick exits by our defence. Just gotta bury some of our chances next time.

Bob stole one. Regroup, tighten some things up, and go back on the attack on Thursday.

Bob looks like a 10M and Sammy looked like a 1M goalie, other than that the mistakes we had cost us. (RoR and Brodie 3 goal coverage was un-acceptable.)

Hope for some better bounces and execution next game. GLG
